View Full Version : Transformers 3
Saw this the other day and noticed in the scene where the main characters are on the freeway being chased, on the mirror it says 'objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are'...I get the joke in the film but wonder if it's a nod by Michael Bay to the video from Bat2.

I'm not sure, but this sentence is very common on rear view mirrors, not only in States.
I remeber that I saw it in Poland on one's of Fiat cars
What I really want to know is, was this movie as godawful as the second one? Or was it awful like the first?
Besides that I don't think it's a nod to the clip. It's common to have this on the side mirror of a car. In fact there are loads of movies where you see this line ;)
I got my car customized so it says that.
The film is awful, I walked out of the cinema way before the end.
I actually noticed it too when I went to watch it, usually though its not worded the same, it sometimes says can instead of may lol

The second one was the most awful cinema / movie experience I ever had. I can easily recommend Edward Wood Jr.'s "Plan 9 from outer space" over that tripe. The stereo types are so old fashioned and insulting I don't get how someone didn't put a stop to releasing it. Shame really as Bay did some good stuff in his day "The Rock", "Armageddon" (Love it) and of course the stunning Bat 2 videos. How in Heaven's name Spielberg is wasting his time with him now after Transformers 2 only indicates they are only it for the money which is literally bizarre coming from the man who made Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, ET and Jaws. It probably indicates that money making changes people more than they will admit. It's really a shame that cinema detracts THAT far away from making something interesting / fun / creative / artful. It really does not get any worse than that in my opinion. How the high flyers can fall so low is just staggering really. Awful, awful franchise. First one was watchable, interesting at best. Shia Labeouf is overrated too and really just a face rather than a good actor in my opinion. Disgusting offensive money making rotten heart rubbish.
Back to the first post, lol, It's probably a wink at the song as usually the line reads "Objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear" on a car mirror in the US.

Yes, it does, which is the exact opposite in wording and meaning of the song, a concept which is totally lost on my husband, no matter how hard I try to explain it.
Speaking of Jurassic Park, there is also the scene where the T. Rex is chasing the Jeep:

"The Rock"
LOL funny how everyone has different tastes. I thought (still think) this is terrible. It was the first time I realised Connery can't act. He, just like Richard Gere, always plays the same character in different outfit. In 1996 (or what year was it) I found this one of the worst movies ever made... that was until the next Michael Bay movie
To be honest, I don't like any of his movies but he manages to outdo himself in the worst kind of way every time a new movie comes out. That is actually impressive:roll::evil:

Next Mr. Rex will be wanting a song writing credit on Bat 2.

A lot of cars say that, "Objects in rear view mirror are closer than they appear", or some variant which is not actually the title of the song. Jim got the title because he doesn't drive, so he would have been looking at the rear view mirror on the passenger side.

Yeah, he put his usual twist on it.
As it happens, I just saw Transformers 3 recently, and the "warning" printed on the mirror in the scene is the standard one.
