Lemon might fit in place of Break It. Maybe there could be a poll of which song fans like better, Lemon or Break It.

Good Idea!

Which song dis you prefer Live and would want in the set?

Me, I chose the third option

One MILLION percent Lemon. I can't stand Break It, it's good on the album and worked live the first few times, but we've seen that song on every show of every tour since it was first done on Hair Of The Dog, that's 5 years.

Obviously there are songs in the set that Meat's been performing for a lot longer, but they're the "classic" Meat tracks - apart from the fact it's a good warm up song for Meat I see no reason for Break It to still be in there.

I'm sick of Frying Pan and Break It so it's gotta be Lemon it just sounds new and fresh every time he does it live

I went for neither because I don't like Lemon and although I don't mind 'Break It' it'd be nice for a change.

Voted for Lemon cause I love the song, and it would be a nice change to see it live. Looking @ the other 2 choices, I can easily picture him doing both of live, like a video playing in my head. Can't say the same for Lemon, so Lemon it is!

I love Out of the frying pan the most! Lemon & Break it both are hell good songs, but if u let me choose between the three of them frying pan is my favorite! Don't ask me why...

I chose none of the above, while I like all those songs, there are plenty of others I prefer that I have not heard live yet whereas I have heard all of those live plenty of times.

I'll Kill You If You Don't Come Back could fill the role Frying Pan and Lemon do easily, and would walk all over Break It. It's one of his best songs that never gets any love D:

So for that reason, I voted 'none of the above'. As good as Frying Pan and Lemon are...they've had their time in the spotlight for what? Sixteen, seventeen years now? Break It needed a rest before it made the setlist. IKYIYDCB would be a very, very cool and unexpected change :D

I love IKYIYDCB, and as far as I'm aware its never been done live before (?) I read somewhere it was supposed to be the centre piece of what became Dead Ringer before Meat swapped Rock and Roll Dreams for DRFL with Jim. Massively under rated song.

I asked Meat this once on the old Meatloaf.net forums and he said he did it live on the Dead Ringer tour. I've never come across anyone else mentioning it though.

I would guess that if the 'show' that was filmed in the aircraft hanger is ever released then the song will be a part of it.

I want Lemon back, but, its gotta be done like it was in 1993-1996. The version of lemon on the CHSIB tour was pathetic, a great song ruined by gimmick. Get back to rocking the joint, the way we all love!!!

A) This poll was only done a few months ago and Break It lost then as well.

B) Comparing Lemon and Frying Pan with Break it isn't really matching up like-for-like. A better comparison would be something like MATLAF or Runnin' For The Red Light.

C) Break It is a crap song, but Meat obviously likes it/finds it easier to sing than some alternatives.

Please not "break it" again. Give me "frying pan" just don't repeat "I wanna take you" 47 times.

Why? Thats the best part of the song when its performed live!

I concur with WarioLoaf. Break it was played the other night and they nailed it. They really appeared like they have been working around the clock, especially Mr. Crook the man producing the record. With touring, recording and traveling. Hard workers that's for certain. They never held back once, and I'm sure "Guilty Pleasures" dvd will convey that. Meat and the NLE just have that reputation in today's music scene. After seeing them live, my life will never be the same. It was all just so rocking!

Oh and I say Frying Pan, love the way it sounds on Hang Cool double disc. And I also like the "take you's" they're special, touching, to me at least.

I agree with this. I loved Lemon when Patti sang all the "What about" lines and with the duelling guitars. I vote for Lemon to return.

I agree with this too. I really liked Break It on the Hair of the Dog tour, but it has lost my interest over the years.

I vote for Life Is a Lemon. We never had a great dvd version of the song, the way they used to perform the song in the 90's which really rocked.

I didn't care much for the MSO version of Lemon, but I really liked the MSO version of Frying Pan. So now I hope we get a dvd version of Lemon similiar to the 90's live version of the song.

Break It and Nowhere Fast (only the Bad Attitude version, Streets of Fire one is great) are the Steinman songs what I cannot stand at all. But Lemon is boring and I have never been a big fan of Frying Pan. I would say...

Everything Louder or Land Of The Pigs

Lemon is incredible, the 'defective' sequence is just Jim Steinman genius

Life Is a Lemon- The song gives the entire band a chance to shine- the guys on their instruments and Patti on the what about lyrics and extended drum intro.

That's true. Mark played keys on that song. He could add some percussion though like he plays cowbell on LA.

 I've told you a million billion times not to exagerate :p

To play it 1000 times over 15 years, he'd have to sing it an average on 66.6 times a year.
When's the last time Meat did 66 shows in one year?

When's the last time Meat did 66 shows in one year?

2007 he did more then 80 shows before cancelling after newcastle. No lie:

http://www.kasiminfo.com/2007ML.html

Bat 2 tour he went around the world (even Japan) for a combined total of over 100 shows in 1994

WTTN was a 120 show tour I beleive, a little over 60 of those shows in 1996.

He did 26 shows in Europe for the Greatest hits tour and 36 shows for the american stortytelelrs tour in 1999 for a combined total of 62 and every show Lemon was in the set (while not 66, its close enough):

http://www.kasiminfo.com/Tours/Meat/GreatestHits.html
http://www.kasiminfo.com/Tours/Meat/StoryTellers.html

So while WOH was exagerating, he really wasnt too off.

to my calculations lemon has been performed about 700 times.

Just made myself look look like an idiot ...

So that means in the last 15 years, minus the 100 or so performances of lemon in 1993-1994, The grand total is around 600.

Not that it makes a great difference to the overall total, but he at least 9 shows in 2006 :))

Calculations:

100 - Bat 2 Tour
120 - BTR Tour
62 - 1999 Tours
31 - Just Having Fun (late 2001 - early 2002)
93 - CHSIB
47 - HOTD
9 - 2006
80 - 2007
26 - CDC

Grand Total = about 568 performances of Lemon, since I know both the bat 2 tour exceeded 100 and the WTTN tour had AT LEAST 120 dates.

RSG
14 Jul 2011, 00:20
that's a whole lot of lemons... do the 80 in 2007 count as actual gigs performed? excuse my ignorance. there was a bump in the road if memory serves me right.
