Meat Loaf's off the menu

POPSTAR TO OPERASTAR

MEAT Loaf has been given the chop after ITV cheifs decided he wasn't to their taste any more.
And the Bat Out Of Hell rocker has been replaced on the judging panel by sexy violinist Vanessa Mae.
Just like this year's X Factor, there has been a clear-out ahead of the second series, which starts on Saturday.
Flamboyant designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, 46, has also been given the boot.
Actor and theater director Simon Callow, 61 will join violin whizz Vanessa, 32, and opera stars Katherine Jenkins, 30, and Rolando Villazón, 39, on the panel.
Last year Meat Loaf, who is currently on tour in the US, put his foot in it with ITV bosses by slagging off their shows just hours after he signed for Popstar To Operastar.
The 63-year-old said: "I was watching this Skating With The Stars thing. I mean, what the f*** is that?
"And that awful I'm A Celebrity. It's just for Ant And Dec to make money."

Line-up

A show spokeswoman said both Meat Loaf and Llewelyn-Bowen would not be appearing as their work schedules clashed with the new series.
Popstar To Operastar, hosted by Myleen Klass, hopes to turn favourite popsters into opera divas.
The line-up includes former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, 26; Toploader's Joe Washbourn; X Factor winner Joe McElderry, 19; Ultravox frontman Midge Ure, 57; Erasure's Andy Bell, 47; Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker, 57; American R&B singer Jocelyn Brown, 60, and Claire Richards, 33, from Steps.
The new series starts with a special show introducing the celebrities on Saturday at 9pm.
The contest gets under way on Sunday at 8pm when one celeb will get the boot via a viewers' vote.

"not to their taste"? He was a third place runner-up on CA. I call Bull shit.

Hes not doing the show for one very reason: it sucks and the execs know it, so they have to take him off the show to make it suck even more.

Somehow I didn't think he'd be on this new series.

He probably wasn't 'axed'. I think that there is a good possibility that he had no plans to do the series anyway since he already had tour dates booked. It's a tabloid, they stretch the truth to make things 'interesting'.

Here's the link to the online article: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/193928/Meat-Loaf-s-off-the-menu/

I don't think the show "sucked" Chris .. I enjoyed it a lot, but then I like classical music and the contestants were in the main good singers who really bust their asses to sing the arias they performed; although if they're including the egregious Cowell I am likely to give it a miss this year! If anything sucks it's ridiculous tabloids like the Daily Star .. who in their article also say Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has been "given the boot" and then go on to put in print:

A show spokeswoman said both Meat Loaf and Llewelyn-Bowen would not be appearing as their work schedules clashed with the new series.
which any of ther readers who can get past the pictures and actually follow words can see.

But then when did a tabloid ever spoil the opening of a "story" by telling the truth, even if they go on to relay it in the next paragraph? Meat agreed to do the original show as part of a total package when he was promoting HCTB in Euope, and a smart business move it was, given it gave him the opportunity to travel to promotional events all round Europe for several weeks.

I think it was obvious he wouldn't be in this series given it was a one-off for a specific reason, and his current schedule which is firmly based in the USA. Personally I can't really see much point in drawing attention to something so daft as the Daily Star, and certainly not getting worked up by it ;) Just a typical non-story by the Star imo ..

That pic of Meat looks very strange and wouldn't surprise me if they reversed it to fit into the structure and style of the page.

As for the announcement, I doubt they considered Celebrity Apprentice when looking at who may judge this. Plus Meat was not in a position to do it, given the fact he has shows coming up and an album to record.

No big thing

Daily Star readers will think Meat was unceremoniously dumped. Don't worry folks, that's only about five people...! The Star is it the poor mans' Sun in the UK, 100%.

I won't be watching it this time either. Not a big fan of classical/opera music myself. Only watched it last time because Meat was on it.

 To be honest, I didn't think there was any plans to bring Meat back anyway.

I thought it was a case of there would be a couple of expert judges and a couple of celeb judges that would be changed series to series.

It never even occured to me that Meat would even be in line for series 2.

Meat and LLB have both got other things on their plates right now (we know Meat is working on his album) so how you get from that to them being fired is anyones guess :wtf:
