Funny you 2 (hecklers!). I'm typing a novel here!
Pick up where we left off from Ep. 10. The firing of Star and the return of Marlee and Meat back to the war room. John and Jon are absolutely elated that Meat weathered the firing storm like a champ. Marlee is stunned and shock returning to the war room a little late...she starts to get emotional over what transpired. She is the last female standing for ASAP and for the program overall.
Not too much time passes before Donald Trump makes his way to the room. Congratulating the final 4, but with a disclaimer that they will each take part in the interview process by Joan Rivers, Piers Morgan, and Brett Michaels. Two more of you will be fired.
John Rich is first to go up. The interview is tough but fair I thought. Immediately the questions start with who will you throw under the bus first. There goes Meat's name in that pool and his reasoning was because of being too emotional. Second one goes to Lil' Jon and only cause' Marlee raised $1mil for her charity should not be overlooked.
Lil Jon goes next. His answers were calm and cool, just like he's played all season. He did slip up and didn't put himself in the final 2 when asked. That could come back to haunt him, I thought.
Meat goes next. They harped upon his emotions, Meat explained it well. He was upfront about his energy and focus on task. I thought he was sharp. When asked about who he'd throw under the bus, he named Lil' Jon for being a little lazy.
Marlee up last. She handles the peppering of questions well too.
Trump reviews with the interviewers and they had great things to say about everyone. Into the boardroom: He asks each one of the contestants, who they would see in the final 2. John picks Marlee; Lil' Jon picks John Rich; Marlee picks John Rich; Meat picks John Rich. After some buildup, Lil' Jon is the first to go as Trump explains he has done well on the show.
Down to final 3. Each of the remaining are asked why they should be the Celebrity Apprentice. Meat is at a disadvantage because he heard the other two first....but he comes up with a passionate answer for The Painted Turtle.
Overall the interviewers didn't think that Meat's emotions were conducive to the business world. Trump disagreed with them but ultimately our man got the axe. Trump's, "Meat your fired" sent a bit of a stinger to me. Hearing Meat graciously thanking Mr. Trump, wishing the other contestants well (Rock IT!) and exiting with his head held high, was class act all the way.
The next task is presented to Rich and Marlee, a 7up Retro. Rich's focus is that of the 80's, gets the band Def Leppard for their event....and Marlee's is focused on the 70's, gets the Harlem Globetrotters for her event. Enter fired contestants to help out on the task. Meat, Lil' Jon, Latoya, Star, Mark McGrath and Richard Hatch. A schoolyard pick by the PM's determine the set teams.
Both teams get busy on design of a new can and new box for store shelves. As well as in store displays. Then the commercial for their product. Lil Jon is in charge of the commercial for Rich's team. Star has logistics. McGrath is a creative energy which feeds Rich's mind. The get Dee Snider from Twisted Sister to star in the commercial.
Ideas are swirling about for Marlee. Latoya is finding Meat's way of working is funny. Meat has a lot of ideas in that head of his. No doubt. They choose a slogan and concept. They are off and running.
This is a loaded episode of details. The show ends with both teams shooting their commercials. Meat is directing the commercial for Marlee. At one point he is shaking his hips...I wouldn't exactly call it dancing...but he was trying to get Richard to do things. I was doubled over, nearly laughed my ass off. Meat is also in the commercial for Marlee. Brought back some memories I have to say. One more thing about the shoot though, Meat was giving instructions to a stagehand...he needed the fan on. He said, "Put it on high. BLOW ME". Welp, there went my 7up. LMAO!
Overall it looks like the task is going okay, but the talent that Team Marlee had secured is having a legal issue signing the release. Both teams are having issues......and they show Meat wanting to throw his phone. Perhaps he lost his signal, I have no idea why. But, clearly even though Meat is not PM he completely is engrossed in task and wants to win, for Marlee.
The show ends fading to Trumps hotel. The final outcome is unclear and next week is the finale.
Now let's back up a little bit: I think it goes without say that I would have loved for Meat to be in the final 2. I even thought I lost a little interest after he was fired. However, what I quickly figured out, was that I was less stressed for him. I still wanted to watch how Meat contributed to the show. When he came back as a helper. He stepped up and showed to me really why he would have been the better contestant to go up against John Rich. Meat is a natural leader...he has the follow through, the gut drive, the focus, and experience to be so. Although Trump got it wrong, Meat will always be my Celebrity Apprentice.
Congratulations Meat, I'm so proud of you!

Excellent recap ... thanks for posting Suzie :-)

Just remember ... it's all about the competition and the charities.
All of the people there, including John and Lil Jon, were doing whatever it takes to win. Even Meat said he would throw Lil Jon under the bus if he had to :wink:
:lmao: Suzie !
I was actually glad to see Richard Hatch come back ... he and Meat are a great pair together :lol:.
The other funny part was when they were interviewing John Rich about him and Star ...
and the picture fell off the wall behind him :lmao:
Even though he wasn't chosen as one of the final 2, it's still great seeing Meat jump in as an energetic, strong team player :-)
and RECORDED with them...because he is a PROFESSIONAL CELEBRITY!! :)
Can't help but wonder how STAR JONES felt about being called TOOTS by Mark...when she was OFFENDED by "SWEETIE" from Meat! :shock:

~~~~ Trump, ~~~~ Joan, ~~~~ JR, ~~~~ Piers, ~~~~ Brett...~~~~ em all.
If you cannot see Meat Loaf for who he really is, you dont ~~~~ing deserve him. I will not be watching this shitty show next year.
Sorry Trump, but you dont have backbone.
Can't help but wonder how STAR JONES felt about being called TOOTS by Mark...when she was OFFENDED by "SWEETIE" from Meat! :shock:
Well, look at Star's Twitter & you will find out, Don Jr commented on it, then Boston Angel & I did, she came back with some arguement, I can't remember... oh here it is, as written....
In reply to Don Trump Jr:
Shall I "School you junior?" @DonaldJTrumpJr: Did @mark_mcgrath just call @StarJonesEsq tootz??? I am pretty sure I heard that
She then continues with:
When you refer to someone with a term of endearment/familiarity in a spirit of camaraderie… it isn’t insulting or demeaning…
BUT, “young man” @DonalJTrumpJr when you use a cutesy term in the middle of a disagreement… you are being demeaning. EXHIBIT A
:bicker: << STAR..... LMAO!
Yes indeed.
I always thought the term “Toots” was demeaning & offensive no matter what context it was used in, if anyone called me toots I’d go all Star Jones on their ass for sure lol
I know. I think of sweetie as more of a term of endearment, than toots would be since so many people use it.
Loved Meat's line near the beginning of the show when he said about Star, "I out-lawyered the lawyer" in the boardroom. Priceless
Of course my favorite line of the night was when Meat was dressed in the 70's garb in front of the fan, and he said "blow me". That was hilarious!
Sorry Trump, but you don't have backbone.
Spot on!! Just pockets to fill :roll:
None too shabby, and a lot of money and awereness for a worthwhile cause 8)
This was the episode I wasn't looking forward to. There is no job in CA, and it strikes me it's a section designed to simply put contestants on the spot, try and antagonise them, and serves no real value save for the producers' idea of entertainment. The panel of CA winners Trump fields for these interviews has imo no expertise in establishing anyone's competency, not even for the final of this contest, and so it proved. Joan Rivers may have sat in the centre, but the pompous and arrogant Piers Morgan clearly chaired and led the interviews, challenging aggressively, not listening to answers given, and interrupting. The only questions I thought were pertinent and well put were those from Brett Michaels, but Morgan generally interrupted any attempts to answer them. True we saw only edited footage, but I think what I saw was probably representational of the whole.
In the first part we saw Meat interviewed and respond with honesty and integrity, defending his position and putting his case articulately and strongly insofar as he was allowed to speak. Morgan's agenda was clear imo. John Rich and Marlee would get through, LJ and Meat would not. I think few would doubt that JR was going through, and the trickiest question he had to field was Morgan suggesting that writing songs wasn't enough to be successful. Most people felt the second place would be between Meat and Marlee.
Meat got an aggressive grilling which he dealt with confidently and well. That Morgan should dwell on his one outburst of anger is the apotheosis of hypocracy given he rode his own voyage to CA success with a series of angry and antagonistic outbursts at Omarosa. It had been decided imo to jettison Meat, despite his strong performance in every task, because he was emotional, and any explanation or defence was rudey interrupted or ignored by Morgan. Meat pointed out that he had shown many other strengths. Was he allowed to finish? Was this listened to? No, Morgan switched to suggesting he had anger management issues and "nearly beat up Gary Busey". Brett asked an excellent question, that being on the edge did he feel he could focus enough to win. Is Meat allowed to answer? No. Morgan switches to talk to Brett. Joan loved and understood his passion, Brett imo would have been open to being convinced had Meat been allowed to respond, but that aggressive buffon Morgan prevented it. He was of course editor of the Daily Mirror, the rag that has rarely hd a good word to say about Meat, certainly not until well after Morgan was sacked .. for disgraceful behaviour in business!
Even when pressed to throw his fellow contestants "under the bus", Meat was honest and honourable, and the only criticism he made was proved the case in the final task which followed. I have interviewed many senior executives for many senior positions over the years, and he was the only one who would have convinced me that he was speaking with total honesty and complete integrity in all his replies.
Marlee on the other hand got an easy ride. Some chat about her Oscar, a bit of concern expressed about her having tapped out her big hitters, which would not be an issue in the final task, a chance to talk about her representing the deaf community, and the one more searching question about her lack of all round performance, and did she agree that her performance had tailed off, was answered with a simple "No" .. and they moved on.
The final boardroom session saw LJ fired, according to Trump because he had not said to the interviewers that he should be one of the final two when asked, despite saying to Trump when asked that he should be kept on. Right decision but a more honest reason would have been good. Meat was the last contestant to be fired, because the panel had unanimously agreed he was over-emotional .. for that read Morgan had decided this, and doubtlesss Trump had even before they went into the room. He accepted it with dignity and grace, managed his disappointment, and left with his head held high.
Meat had played a straight game throughout, had demonstrated a broad raft of leadership skills, energy, focus, and that amazing creativity of his. If to be a CA winner he needed to lose any of that honesty, that depth of feeling, that refusal to undermine his fellow contestants he maintained throughout, all I can say is I'm glad he wasn't in the final two. It's been a privilege to watch him working, busting his balls of steel, genuinely growing and learning about himself (for his declaration of how much he'd gained was no mere mouth music to flatter Trump) and competing fiercely without ever compromising his beliefs and ethics, losing his passion and compassion, or not being true to himself. He came to work hard, not get fired and win money for Painted Turtle. He did that in spades. Meat started with integrity, showed it throughout and ended with it intact. Not only the biggest celebrity on this series, the biggest man with the biggest heart and the most honour. And imo he left the biggest winner of all.
He simply worked hard,
He was gracious not cruel.
And he played the game fairly,
But was nobody's fool.
He maintained his integrity
Right to the end.
And when he said goodbye,
He left with his head high,
He came and he won,
Yes, he's always a winner to me
Like i said in the other thread, thank you Meat, for showing the world what a wonderful human being you are. Imo Marlee wouldn't stand a chance without your creative energy on her side. I hope your team wins next week. We are all so proud of what you've done for painted turtle.
I watched the clip this morning..and when Meat entered in the old costume with the wig, I started to laugh so much that the tears popped out of my eyes...wow..he really knows how to entertain.
And he really made my day!
He just keeps to amaze me in everything he does...
Well, I have just watched the first part of last night's show. It is still playing on the TV in the background but, for some reason, I am more interested in typing this than watching the rest of the show! Of course, like everyone else here, I am VERY proud of what Meat achieved on this show for his beloved charity. But, I'm not gonna lie, the only reason I have been watching the show is because Meat was a contender. I have never seen this show before, as I live in the UK, and I doubt I will ever watch it again.
I think it's a damn shame that Meat got fired just because he was too emotional. What a load of ****! The message this gives is that it is a sign of weakness to be emotional. Well, I disagree! I think, to be able to wear your heart on your sleeve is an admirable quality and one that shows courage, not weakness. But hell, what do I know?!
I will watch the rest of the show, but only because Meat is still a part of it. I couldn't give two hoots who wins now! Am I being a bit shallow? Maybe. But I am far too disappointed right now to care!
as i watched on, Meat would of been a far stronger choice than Matlin.
thats twice maybe 3 times she has proven to be a weak leader imo, Meats more creative and a stronger leader imo. well done coming 3rd Meat:D
As I watched on Meat seemed to be doing most of the work .. but then, that's what he does ;) He's a team player, gives his all .. and if Marlee wins so has Meat imo
Totally agree with everything you've said here, Caryl. I don't think Meat stood much of a chance in his interview, because it would appear that the decision had already been made. Meat should have been up against John Rich, and NOT Marlee. I don't know about anybody else, but I've had a feeling all the way through that Marlee was going to be in the final, no matter what? And I could have punched Piers Morgan in the face!
I've just been over to the NBC website and told them what I think about Meat being fired! Anyone else fancy doing the same?
Dig your enthusiasm. But Trump made up his mind with Latoya (and rehiring her), and said he would never do same again. But I concur, I not satisfied with how Trump dealt with firing Lil Jon & Meat. Not just cause I'm a fan. It just wasn't right. And a pretty poor way to end a exciting season.
I didn't actually do it in the hope that Meat would be rehired - I know there's not a cat in hell's chance of that happening! ;) I was just feeling pretty angry at the way that Piers Morgan conducted his part of Meat's interview and I wanted to tell Trump that, in my opinion, he had made a BIG mistake by firing Meat! I know it won't make a blind bit of difference, I just needed to get it off my chest! :-)
Mr. Morgan wasn't really kind to any of them. I really didn't like that episode, where's the balls Trump? Sure the process would be hard to eliminate out of the 4 players, but it just isn't right. I'll be done ranting after I get some sleep :)
They're a bunch of Meat haters on the NBC boards. In fact a lot of CA fans seem to be Meat haters and are making a judgement on him based on the Busey incident and the fact that he's so emotional. They don't think he should have made the final four, let alone the final two.
They're making a judgement about Meat as a whole person based on the scenes that were obviously chosen to maximise ratings. No matter what anyone says they're going to carry on thinking the way they do and so I decided that it was pointless posting there.
I personally don't think Meat should have been fired. He worked hard and was passionate about his charity. The only thing that let him down was his emotions, which I see no problem with, but unfortunately the panel did. Part of me wonders if Meat's emotions would be such a big deal if he wasn't a man? After all, the CA fans have said very little in comparison about Marlee becoming upset over losing the task and Star Jones being fired.
Thanks Suzie and Caryl for your great reviews. I've finally managed to watch it. Congrats Meat, you played the game well with honesty, integrity and by putting your heart and soul into every task. Sorry you got fired, I think Trump made a mistake there. I thought the interview process was so unfair too, they had obviously already made up their minds. But I will admit, I hated hearing those words, Meat Loaf you're fired and yelled at my computer nooooooooooooo!!!! But you handled it with grace and dignity and wished the other two luck. You may not win Celebrity Apprentice, but you will always be a winner to me. I think you are a real asset to Marlee's team and loved all your ideas, especially the disco ball. I think it was a mistake too to drop the boombox. I did think John was a fool not to pick you when he had first option of who to pick for his team. Lil Jon seems to have proved to be rather lazy, sitting around on his arse complaining he was tired. So is everyone. I am looking forward to next week's episode to see how it all pans out. Really proud of you Meat. I have loved watching you every week giving it your all and seeing your creative mind at work.
