Hey Guys,

I'm desperate to buy this track on iTunes (or similar) but I live in the UK and it's limited to mainland Europe. I don't understand why iTunes or the record companies do this, surely it makes sence to allow anyone to buy a track - I want to pay for this music!

Does anyone know how I can buy it please? To date its the only ML song that I don't own!

Thanks
Ant x

You be in for a treat when you get to hear it. I say its on the Did I Say That single!

I'd like to own this track too - I love it. Also, 'Unsaid' is another I would like to get from somewhere. Anyone know where?

Unsaid is beautiful, both should have been on the Album in my opinion, it's on the Couldn't ahve said ti better EP on itunes - I've managed to get a copy of Decedent Wish now thanks Loafers! Always on the look out for offical rare recordings (not into bootlegs unless they are of songs which were never recorded like What part of my body hurts the most)

My decedent wish is for another Steinman/Meat Loaf album with ONE track featuring the original session musician line up of Bat out of Hell. What's your decedent wish?

RSG
01 May 2011, 17:57
Original session musician line up, woah! :D

My decadent wish would be something rocknfernis come up with the other day on facebook. Steinman on Piano live with Meat belting out We're Still The Children. :)

That should be the BOH alumni reunion song!

Just imagine, Meat, Todd, Rory, Ellen, Patti, Carla singing, Roy Bitten on Piano, Max Weinburg on Drums, Todd, Tim Pierce, and Randy on guitars, Kasim on Bass (he'd do one more track!) Edgar Winter on Sax, Jimmy and Roger Powell on keys. It could be AWSOME!

Both songs are usually available on ebay on their respective singles, which is where I got my copies. Decadent Wish is a favourite. The only disappointing part was the bridge in that song.

You can't even touch my body
I can't even touch your soul...

is that a bridge?

A Slice Of English

That's the bridge, yeah.

"You can't even touch my body
I can't even touch your soul
How could you know how bad
I want to turn you on again?
I want to turn you on again"

Just doesn't sit right with me that bit. Still love the song though, right up there as one of my favourite all-time b-sides :)

i like both versions, Michael Duff's original acoustic version and Meat's.

Meat's should have been on CHSIB

'Unsaid' is on the CHSIB single I have here at home. Decadent Wish was more rockin' whereas This track Meat hits one in the face with a traditional tremendous emotion with a lesser than heroic, Diane Warren lyric.

Now that would be worth seeing. IMHO Still the children is probably the greatest Steinman song I have never heard Meat sing

Although I love the song, the ONLY way 'Safe Sex' should be on a ML record is if Patti sings it. Period.

I would have dropped "You're right I was wrong" and "Because of you" in favour of "Decadent wish" and "Unsaid". Then the album's pretty much perfect for me. I found those other two songs lacking, but the b sides were terrific.

"Because Of You" is a quality track - Meat's delivery of '...this is larger than life...' is quintessentially Meaty, if you know what I mean ... I think we are all agreed that "You're Right I Was Wrong" is B-side material. Meanwhile, what on earth is "Decadent Wish" doing, being tucked away on a B-side?! It grabs your attention from the off, and sweeps you into its tide. That funny messy middle-bit almost ruins the whole thing - thankfully, almost, but not quite (see also that synthesiser noodling on the otherwise marvellous 'Good Girls Go To Heaven').

I have some copies of the CD with Did I say That, Decadent Wish and Lawyers, Guns and Money. I will be putting them on the Loafdom for the Turtle website in the next week or so to raise money for The Painted Turtle. They will be priced at $11 US plus 68p postage within the UK or $3 postage overseas. All the money raised apart from postage costs will go to TPT.

"Decadent Wish"(), "Unsaid"()? Of course - they are one of the best songs Meat recorded. I would choose not only "You're Right I Was Wrong" but also "Why Isn't That Enough" and "Do It" and send them into non-existence.

I agree. I also think "Why Isn't That Enough" is a wonderful song with great meaning, and really liked Meat's version "Do It". Even if I didn't, I wouldn't send them into "non-existence" .. but then I don't really appreciate Picasso personally, and wouldn't ban his work from any gallery .. nor take a knife to it ;) (Nice metaphor Meat ;) ) I just accept it's not for me because I haven't managed to understand it.

Thanks .. actually, I do understand the difference between metaphor and simile. I just didn't realise the level of grammar required here was so exacting ;) .. and frankly as "metaphor" is the word Meat's been using in so many interviews, I thought the term would work for most readers here. Metaphor or not, it referred to those who would send a song that doesn't appeal to them into "non-existence", which was my point, that I think most would have understood.

However I stand corrected. Now you might want to turn your skills to the spelling and punctuation on the forum generally.

hello!

thank you for any information!!

I think they are:

Oh now lover, hungry lover
We devour each other
I should run for cover
But you keep turning water to wine
Dangerous and yet divine
You back me in a corner with your sugar and lace
In every breathless night there's less and less escape
And you're the ultimate confection here at heaven's gate
And I pray, I pray that you'll be mine

'Cause I know you, are a decadent wish
A siren's call with a terminal kiss
And I'd give it all for one more taste of your lips
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours

Oh now far from being perfect
Unions of the spirit
Skating on the surface of something pure and genuine
Dangerous and yet divine
Now you're tired of my defenses and your grip's too tight
You know I'm going under, oh but it feels so right
If it's wrong it doesn't matter 'cause I'm satisfied
And I pray, I pray that you'll be mine

'Cause I know you, are a decadent wish
A siren's call with a terminal kiss
And I'd give it all for one more taste of your lips
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours

You can't even touch my body
I can't even touch your soul
But how do you know, I bet on me
To turn you on again
I need to turn you on again

'Cause I know you, are a decadent wish
A siren's call with a terminal kiss
And I'd give it all for one more taste of your lips
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
'Cause I know you, are a decadent wish
A siren's call with a terminal kiss
And I'd give it all for one more taste of your lips
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
If I crash on the shore I'll be yours
And I'd give it all, yes I'd give it all
And I'd give it all for just a taste of your lips

I think he's wrong about "confession" though. That makes little sense, whereas "confection" fits perfectly with the references to sugar and lace.

i think it's confession...since it makes a bit more sense to say that you'd confess to being with this person when asked at the 'pearly gates' even though it's akin to have been with the devil.

Plus Mike Duff, co-writer of the song, has it on his site as confession...http://www.michaelduff.com/lyrics.html#dec

there's a very good acoustic version that he performs to be found somewhere as well.

Also, "ultimate confection at Heaven's gate". What does that mean anyway?

Someone asked for the lyrics and I gave them what I hear. Only Meat could say exactly what word he has used, or indeed wrote.

As to what "ultimate confection at Heaven's gate" would mean .. to me given the emphasis in the verse on sugar, later on taste, and even the title Decadent Wish, which evokes all those delightful confections which include the word decadent, to me the phrase suggests the most perfect and delicious confection one could imagine in paradise. Whereas to me, "confessing" at the gates of Heaven would be a little tardy ;)

Not arguing that I'm right and you're wrong, to snatch another phrase from a superb album .. just explaining that imo there is as much poetry in what I hear as in what you hear.
