Meat Loaf said:
"Sure I'll charge £12 for a shirt, but with my shirts you can be sure they cost me more than 60p which is what you get with other bands.
"Mine will have cost at least £4 because I make sure it's the best damn shirt money can buy."

Hey, this is actually quite true. At this very moment I am wearing a Welcome to the Neighborhood shirt that looks as good as the day it was purchased, back in '95 or '96- quality material, quality graphics. On the other hand, my ultra-thin, faded, worn out tee's from other groups are hardly wearable any more. That's cool that ML is looking out for his fans.

Absolutely Sherrie. One of several things in this article (which must have been fairly recent) which make you warm to this very decent man.

In another general news item tink of ROL found the other day about bands from 70s/80s this was said:
..... means promoters make more money with older bands, no matter what size the venue. "The older acts draw largely older audiences with disposable income that are willing to pay a premium price for the best seats," said Gary Bongiovanni, editor of Pollstar, the concert industry trade publication. "We're talking about the baby boomer generation, which is the first generation to grow up on rock 'n' roll, and as they got older, they kept their musical tastes the same."

Ringo Starr once observed "It Don't Come Easy." It won't come cheap (this year), either. Tickets for the Eagles at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, capacity 13,800, top out at $200, and Fleetwood Mac is charging $150 for their concert there. The best tickets for Elton John's show at the Arie Crown Theater in Chicago, capacity 4,249, go for $250. And Kiss is offering a "platinum package" this summer that includes one ticket in the first five rows, some concert trinkets and a backstage photo with the band - for a staggering $1,000.

Meat doesn't stiff his fans on the price of a ticket either. A decent, honest, hardworking and thoroughly likeable man with his feet on the ground and concern in his heart for his fans, whom he knows are not all baby boomers with generous disposable incomes .. and of whom he wouldn't imo take advantage even if they were! :) All this and a great talent too .. no wonder we love the man :))
