Just like Wario's Batman poll, but bigger!

I've been rewatching the ones shown on ITV recently (despite them being edited to pieces ) and a lot of them have aged very badly. Also Sean Connery only gave three (very) good performances and then half arsed the rest, so his legendary Bond status is questionable in my eyes.

Anyway I suspect either FRWL or Goldfinger will win this, but pick away. Obviously I couldn't put all the films in the poll, but :shit: happens.

Now a poll of this magnitude and importance requires some deep thought! Watch this space...

I think From Russia With Love is by far the best, but on the whole I think Roger Moore's body of work is superior to that of Mr Connery's. Of the 'modern era' I would go for Tomorrow Never Dies. It is highly derivative of all those that came before it, but it does it well and is very enjoyable.

Tomorrow never dies for me,

I preferred Quantum of Solace more recently to Casino Royale (bar the chase scene at the start of Casino Royale and the terrible last fight scene of Quantun)

I couldn't stand the Moore years as Bond and preferred Connery. I think I might actually like the Dalton years more now if I ever decide to watch them again but at the time I wasn't that impressed.

I actually think Dalton was better than he's made out to be and he should have done a couple more.

I thought Quantum Of Solace was an almighty pile of steaming :shit: although that was mainly because it was so hard to keep track of the camera work.

I am saying GOLDFINGER. Classic villain, classic henchman, classic bond girl all with sean connery's classic bond. I love that film so so very much.

Close second would be ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE.

Third place would have to go to THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. Robbie Coltrane's performance as Zukofski was utter brilliance.

Now I think OHMSS would have been a brilliant film, but for two things wrong with it. A downer of an ending and George Lazenby as Bond. Unfortunately when the main actor of a film cannot act it does kind of ruin things. :|

Now the ending was how the book ended as well. If it ended happy, then it wouldn't be as praised (by most critics) as it is.

Bond was indeed not the best, but he was more bearable then with the terrible movie "a view to kill".

the man that makes that movie for me is mr. Telly Savalas

in my eyes if the Villain cant act it cant be a good Bond movie. if a bond cant act it cant be a perfect Bond movie.

The ending was originally intended to be the beginning of Diamonds Are Forever, but when it became clear that Lazenby wouldn't re-sign it was tacked onto OHMSS instead.

And yes, A View To A Kill was terrible. James Bond does not cook quiche!

I was thinking Christopher Walken's terrible performance as the villian

Live And Let Die for me. Not only does it have the best Bond song EVER, but it has Jane Seymour too  but I genuinely like them all. Time to get my Bond DVD boxset out again methinks.

I actually thought Tomorrow Never Dies was the worst Bond movie ever. Brosnan after Goldeneye was overall terrible. My favorite 007 movie is "Living Daylights" with Dalton, but among the popular Bond movies, my favorite is "Spy Who Loved Me."

I voted Casino Royale. They really nailed that one imho.

I just rewatched Quantum Of Solace on Blu Ray, and I like it more each time I see it.

Connery only tried for his first 3 as Evil One says. For me his best is From Russia With Love. Diamonds Are Forever hurts my eyes and ears. Can't stand it.

I actually like OHMSS and think people are a bit harsh on George. I mean, how much actual acting did Connery, Moore, or Brosnan do? Dalton and Craig yes, but the others? Not so much.

Think Roger Moore's best are The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and Octopussy. View To A Kill has some good bits but overall feels tired and old - unfortunately Bond himself also looks that way at times!

I really like Timothy Dalton, especially The Living Daylights which feels "rebooted" before they even coined the term. The only problem I have with his 2nd film is that it started the now seemingly endless habit of taking away Bond's passport / licence to kill / credit cards etc etc etc. Happened to Brosnan and now Craig - twice in 2 films!

Brosnan was a very good more modern action Bond. Tomorrow Never Dies is great fun, and I also really liked The World Is Not Enough. Die Another Day has some good ideas but ruins most of them with some appalling ones. Like CGI tsunami para surfing. OMG. I wince just typing it.

I find myself agreeing with pretty much everything PanicLord just wrote. I still think QoS was woeful though!

I also feel the need to point out that Connery did more bad films than Moore, which some might find surprising.

Yes I agree. For me, Moore's bad ones were View To A Kill and Man With The Golden Gun. Moonraker and Live And Let Die were very good, and the rest were excellent.

I really like Roger Moore - particularly the fact that he's very amusing but when called upon he does the serious bits really well, which I think also gets overlooked. For example, shooting down the poison globe thingies from space in Moonraker, facing down and shooting the baddy / baddie?? in the car in For Your Eyes Only, defusing a nuclear bomb while dressed as a clown in Octopussy which let's face it sounds like a very badly conceived scene, but is actually very well acted and tense, oh and also killing one of the knife throwing twins again in Octopussy in revenge for 009's killing - he delivers the line brilliantly.

I wouldn't class The Man With The Golden Gun as a bad film. Also people seem to forget that while Moonraker turned to bollocks towards the end, that there was a damn good hour and a half building up to it.

I did feel that Moore's Bond at times strayed a bit too far into the light-hearted, fluffy territory, but on the whole he made the character more likeable than Connery. Which I feel is pretty important when spending two hours watching them.

I really loved Pierce Brosnan the most, then Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore. And I loved the ones with John Cleese as well, he was really funny. I liked the ones where Bond was a bit cheeky and humourous the most.
