Answering that comment above is harder than finding a needle in a haystack. Just because we don't hear or see them doesn't mean they don't exist. My two cents.

I have met a few Asian fanatics online and also some from the Arab nations (i forgot which country)...this is currently because of the fan campaign single. I saw one african american at a Boca Raton, Florida show once. He was rockin' out. These are just my observations.

maybe its because they dont speak english or dont feel the need to visit a UK based forum?

But has the Loaf ever performed in asia? I remember seeing some pics from a tokyo concert from the late 70's but that's about all I know...

I have met Meat Loaf fans from all over and have some on my Facebook. Is USA / Europe / South America / Australia / East Russia / Israel / South Africa not enough "around the world" for your liking?

As for the meat and greets. Only lunatics would pay so much money to see him. At least that group is only confined to people from the USA / Europe / Australia. :))

I think Meat performed in the United Arab Emirates before, so I'm sure he has a few Arabic fans out there. Did he perform in Iran or Iraq? Not sure about that.

Wasn't he paid to do a private concert in an Arab country once or am I making things up?

Late 80s he was in the middle east ... wonder how they reacted to Masculine...

Even more bizarre than the question

Meat's certainly toured the Middle East, but that was back in the 80s and his audiences were mainly European, although he refers to some Muslims attending.

Now .. in the UK I'm not sure I'd notice one way or the other .. it's not something I think about; we're all people enjoying a great night of rock'n'roll. But certainly I've had friends who have been fans who would probably be in your target group, British people who can trace their ancestry back to Asia, Africa, Jamaica etc. But of course Meat has fans around the world as Andrew says.

Maybe they wouldn't have understood what the word Masculine meant!!! The antics in Paradise seemed to worry Meat Loaf more anyway, that's why they had to change it out there.

Actually for being in the street after dark, according to the book. It doesn't say anything about how she was dressed.

Either way women can't show much skin out there, if any. Hardly a place you would go and perform on regular basis if you were Meat Loaf, especially the way Patti and CC dress sometimes. ;)

Hardly a place I would go at all with those kind of stupid rules.

They may seem like stupid rules to us, but if a woman disobeys them over there the consequences are severe.

Those orange dresses painted on look tacky, but not to bad all the same. It's so silly that women can't show any of their feminine qualities. I'm guessing the video for AFL never saw the light of day out there too. Unless they edited out Dana Patrick, and got rid of that rouchy scene on the bed.

I have a question does anyone know how popular Meat Loaf is in Russia? It's a massive country with a big population, but I never heard of him doing a show there or never heard how successful his albums or singles were. Maybe he was there in the 80s, not sure. He's done a lot European Tours but hasn't went to Russia.

CarylB

There was a Russian Meat site but it's no longer on-line.

I'd imagine you'd find there were Meat Loaf fans in most countries.

And there's a few bootlegs appear regularly on eBay which are Russian ;)

When I look at the statistics of just the Meat Loaf index page on my website, I've got visitors from 41 countries on 6 different continents. Not that that's any proof that all those visitors are fans, but still.

(When I look at the site wide stats, I got visitors from 107 countries.)

Considering that the socialist countries usually had to pay license fees and wouldn't spend money on western artists that weren't popular, I assume there were Meat Loaf fans in the Soviet Union. It's just a bit strange that it was that album because labels like Melodiya used to focus on well-known, successful records or released their own "Best of" compilations. (The Soviet BBIS has some info on Meat Loaf and his career printed on the back cover, a typical feature of East European records of that time.)
