View Full Version : Meat Loaf news articles from the 1970's claiming he'd died?
I remember Meat talking about news articles back in the 70's where they said he had passed out and to have died. i remember him saying something about this.
I was wondering, is their anyone who has these articles they can scan? be an interesting read.
To quote from the autobiography:
"During one of the shows in Australia-Adelaide-they took a picture of me lying down, passed out on stage with the headline MEAT LOAF DEAD" (pg. 199)

You might want to edit that title otherwise you're going to cause a few heart attacks round this parts!
I've saved him the bother ...

Unfortunately I didn't get to change the title soon enough to stop it going out on twitter like that.

So was there a "Meat Is Dead" conspiracy back then? I mean, the guy stopped touring, canceled his second record...Jim must've known the fans would have been heartbroken, so he hired some immitator for Dead Ringer...It all makes sense! I bet if you play Dead Ringer For Love backwards it'll speak to you. haha

I've read or heard Meat talk about how he'd get worked up to do the shows and he'd have to have oxygen near after the shows. He was a very large guy ( at that time)and if you watch him preform in some of the videos from the late 70's you can clearly see how much energy he is using. He gives 200% and it had to take a toll.

He gives 200% and it had to take a toll.
Now's it 200%, even more than 110%
I always felt he gave twice the effort of any other singer. He puts it all out there.

from 1977 to 2004 yes Id agree.
Currently he gives more effort then God, let alone singer.
