View Full Version : Clive Davis
Do any of you remember what Clive Davis said to Meat and Jim when they were taking BOOH around the record companies trying to get a deal?
For those of you who don't know, he said to Jim something like "Have you ever listened to rock and roll? Do you actually know how to write a song?" or something like that (according to various sources I've read/listened to). He also said to Meat that he was like Ethel Merman or Robert Goulet and belonged on a Broadway stage. I guess you'll know how angry that made Meat.
So when Clive Davis appeared on American Idol a few weeks ago, I did obscene gestures to him with my hand, yelled obscenities, and then spat at the television screen. He obviously didn't see me but it felt good to react in that way.
If I was a performer on American Idol at the show Clive Davis was attending, I might have chosen a BOOH song and dedicated it to Clive Davis, as my way of saying, "~~~~ YOU!"

Bravo, Shane!

I saw Clive on that show as well. He also appears on various shows on VH1 in the US. Everytime I see him, those same thoughts cross my mind, except I don't really react as dramatically as Shane! Guess not all record executives know how to pick a winner everytime! I wonder what he thinks of it all now?

Didn't someone once do that to the Beatles - Said something about Rock 'n' Roll had had it's day so no-one wante a boyband any more!!!!
Or the talent scout at MGM who referred to Fred Astaire as "Can't sing, can't act, can dance a little"
Shane,
IMHO whilst i can understand that shouting obscenities and spitting at the telly made you feel better at the time, in what way is this a praiseworthy commendable act? everyone is saying "brilliant, well done shane". despite this man BOOH suceeded. it is now one of the most famous albums of all time. what he said is in the past and best left there, he has had nothing to do with Meat ever since, and look at where Meat is today.

Well, I wasn't exactly being 100% serious! I'm guessing most people who responded to this thread understood that.
