Meat Loaf is moping over having to attend a party in a few days.
Actually, he’s “completely freaked.”
Why, you might wonder, would a guy who bears a world-famous handle, has entertained millions worldwide and sold 40 million copies of a rock album hailed as a jewel of its genre, experience social anxiety?
After all, the soiree in question is a New York City splash for famed British guitarist Jeff Beck, an event at which you’d think Meat, as friends and family call him, would feel right at home.
Not so, maintains the veteran of vinyl, stage and screen.
“I’m so nervous, so scared. . . And they want me to walk down a red carpet,” said Meat Loaf, who, at 62, is still principally known for his blockbuster album, “Bat Out of Hell,” released more than three decades ago.
“I don’t want to walk down a red carpet. I’m going to this party basically because they’re making me go. I mean, it’s cool. Just to say hi to Jeff Beck is worth it.
“But no, I really do not speak music.”...
