View Full Version : Q Magazine Cash For Questions

Just picked up the July issue of Q and there's a 4 page feature/interview with Meat. 8) There are some reasonable fans questions with the occasional disarmingly honest answer from Meat. It doesn't look like Paris will be on the tour itinerary, so I guess I won't be taking a trip to France this time round!

It's an interesting read and the ladies here will love the new photos!

:D

Main points (courtesey of Q Magazine) were:

World tour lasts 16 months!

Jim goes into studio soon to work on writing and demo-ing Bat 3. Meat will go in the studio with him once world tour ends, fall 2004.

Hopes Bat 3 will be out 2006, but respectivly doesnt want totalk about it as CHSIB is what he believes in at the moment. He has 2 demo Bat 3 songs but wont talk about them.

Bat wont be released until "It has the magic of the first one" Bat 2 was pushed and was a song missing.

Drinks tequilla before he goes on TV to calm his nerves.

Don't buy cd's like hits out of hell, meats nothing to do with them and he calls it "Crap"

Midnight at the lost and found was the worst record he made. He was forced to record that album but had Total Eclipse of the Heart written for him by Jim and the record company didnt want Steinman songs so threatened not to fund his recording of Total Eclipse of the heart, hence Bonnie Tyler got it. He only went ahead with the midnight album as he needed the money.

Thats the jist of it, hope it helps.

Hi, guys!

Thanks, ChrisNI, for the description of the article!

Sounds like an interesting piece!! Wish we could get the magazine over here! :(

Especially enjoyed the part about Total Eclipse! Hadn't heard that story before!

Which song was missing from Bat 2, anyone know??

Meat just said he felt it was a song missing, not any particular one just "a song"

Thanks for that!

I had read a quote (from some website that I can't remember) which mentions that they had a song that Jim wanted to save for Bat 3. I don't know if that's the `missing' song.

There are lots of compilations out there that Meat probably had nothing to do with, such as `Definitive Collection', `Collection', `Heaven Can Wait: Best Of', `Prime Cuts', `Simply The Best', and so on (I'm just guessing here). To me there is only one real `greatest hits' collection, "The Very Best Of Meat Loaf'.

I bought the 25th anniversary BOOH/HOOH combo recently. I know, Meat says don't buy HOOH, but there is no `legitimate' alternative that I know of.

It was interesting to read what Meat said re Total Eclipse. I didn't know that. Now I know what he means when he says that he should have been the one to sing it. I don't understand why the record company wouldn't want Steinman songs. Wouldn't they be better `sellers'?

ooops, well back OT,
re: tequila, did a search before our last trip to Mexico to find the best to buy.

What seems to be the story (who knows about what you read on the net) the worm does live in the aguave cactus that tequila is made from.

But putting it in the bottle was a marketing ploy by one Mexican tequila company, I think in the 1950s. Most tequila you buy here (US) today does not have a worm.

The thing to look for for in a good tequila is to see if it says 100% Aguave. Juist what I've seen, but I could be all *hick* wrong. :D

Personally i'm not a big fan of tequila, a few weeks ago I was one shot away from the worm but it just managed to stay in the bottle :D so my mate had to do it

I will have to pay a trip to the newsagents for that article, the Total Eclipse story is very new to me, but very interesting. Do people on this forum like Bonnie Tyler just out of interest, or should that be another thread...
