Anyone know what the general public think of Meat over there in america and in particular, how are CHSIB album and single sales doing. Whats the highest chart position etc? I have just been onto the Billboard.com site but in order to view the singles and album charts you must subscribe approx £300 per year which I find unbelievable. So this is to the americans out there - did he reach a higher position that the dizzy heights of No 4?

Just interested thats all.

Thanks.

Hi, coupe-de-ville!

It's strange here in the States. We are such a large and diverse country, and we seem to like our music the same way. :)

As in most places these days, though, it seems like everyone is catering to the 'young,' and the music they like, if you know what I mean.

But Meat has a LOT of fans over here, spread out all over the country--from one end to the other--as you can see by the venues he'll be playing this summer (with more to come, I understand, during the 4th and final leg of the tour).

As far as CHSIB is concerned: It has NOT yet been released here, unfortunately. The last date that Meat gave us was August 21st and we're all hoping that won't change again.

Guess it had something to do with the Record labels (grumble grumble :x )! And, as you've seen here at the forum, some US stores are NOT waiting for the release, but are bringing in Imports from the UK and Europe to sell to their customers, since CHSIB is doing so well over there.

But, we're all hoping, that with the upcoming tour, and the TV and radio promotions to come, that the CD will do well in the US!! It's such a great album, how could it not??!!!! :D

So, that's what's happening so far over here. We're all excited and waiting for the tour to begin in a few weeks!

Hope this helps!

Love,
MB

I tell you MB, I am hanging on to the shred of hope that this statement gives me! That mythic "fourth leg" of the tour is my hope for seeing ML one last (or maybe 4 or 5 last) time. I am so anxious that he won't make it "down South". If I weren't a school employee (i.e., zero paychecks over summer holiday) I suspect I might fly off for some other American dates. Patience is a virtue, or so they say. Maybe this time next year I'll be ranting about the string of ML concerts I am attending. (Or perhaps simply ranting- time will tell!)

One great benefit of the August release date is American promotion. I'm looking forward to seeing ML on TV shows that I can actually see first hand for a change! Letterman, Leno, Conan, whatever- if ML's there, I'll be watching! I have been wearing my ML shirts often and talking up the new album every chance I have, and I'll sure be doing more of that as the album arrives in the States. It would be great if we can have the same sort of concerted effort here as took place in the UK- lets see if we can top that very respectable #4 showing in the UK! Jeepers, now I'm all hyped up with no place to go! :P

Hi, Sherrie!

Don't worry. I'm sure that Meat will be coming to Florida with this tour!! It'll probably be similar to the end of the Friends tour, when he took a little time off in the middle, then concentrated on the Eastern (and some Midwest) venues through the holidays!

So, don't worry! I KNOW you'll be seeing him again!! :D

I'm looking forward to the promotions for CHSIB, too! Should be fun!! Harder for us, here, though, because so much of the radio and TV time could be local, as Meat hits the various towns along the way. And if we don't have "friends" in that particular area, we won't be able to enjoy them. But the National spots should certainly be good--like "Good Morning, America" on August 15th!! That should be GREAT--and right before the album is released here (I hope!). Wonderful timing!

Right now, as we 'speak,' Meat's gotta be busy in Las Vegas, with his Celebrity Golf Tournament (and Celebrity Softball game and Concert). Wish we could all be there! I heard from someone that he was already doing some TV interviews about it and playing parts of a song or two.

It's sure to be a great weekend there for everyone concerned, and I hope he helps to bring in LOTS of money for the Lili Claire Foundation! :bunny:

I hope the album does well when it's released. I hope there actually are some singles, unlike NZ which won't have any. It has been out in NZ for a couple of weeks but there's been (almost) no promotion to speak of (one news item and one play of the CHSIB video). In fact, I personally have probably done more promotion. I've posted on NZ forums, and even have a few sneaky ideas up my sleeve for `increasing awareness' of it around my uni where I work.

The last time I visited the Billboard site I could see the current charts without paying, so perhaps it has changed (unless you were trying to find historical information).

Hey, Shane! You know, I've been keeping up with your reports and everything going on in NZ. But I was wondering--Have you heard anything more from Meat on this? The last time he responded to you, didn't he say that the album should NOT have even been released there yet? Or did I misread that??

Maybe that's why everything is going so slowly right now. Either someone, somewhere made a mistake and got the dates messed up, or the promotion and the true release are STILL coming.

What do you think?? Is that possible? Can you get anything definite out of Universal (that's who is releasing it there, right?)?

I'm just curious because of what Meat had to say--something is definitely wrong!! But I hope it gets resolved soon!

I think you (and everyone down there from the forum) have been doing a smash-up job of getting the word out the best you can right now---under very trying circumstances!!

Thanks for all ur posts, thats great.
I didn't realise it hadn't been released in the usa, I thought you'd have it before us in europe.
So your all riding on the high of the european release. Wow bet u can't wait for all the hype to hit the usa.
We get Letterman, Leno etc over here on satallite so i'll be looking forward to that once the hype has died down over here.

Cheers
