Oops, my bad!

I'm going with the version on Bad Attitude! Anyone know where/when that was recorded? The vocal is awesome!

While I'm here... anyone remember the Alive in Hell live album?

AndyK
01 Apr 2010, 00:29
BY the version on Bad Attitude do you mean the one on the Bad Attitude Live concert that was released on video? In which case it was recorded at Brixton Academy in 1985.

Or do you mean the live version that was released as a bonus "white label promo" single with one of the Bad Attitude single releases? Which was recorded on the Midnight Tour somewhere I think. That gets my vote.

TheDoode
01 Apr 2010, 00:35
My version of Bad Attitude (album) has 3 live tracks on the CD - um, think they are Paradise, two out of three, and Bat!

Personally I like the MSO version but that is simply because I love to hear the song performed with the orchestra.

That's cool :)

I'm not struck on the Melbourne stuff myself. Anyone remember the live tracks on the Bat II picture show video? I think that's probably the definitive for me of all Meat's live stuff. I know BOOH isn't on there... just saying ;)
Shame it's not out on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that is the same version as the Live Around the world cd right?

If so that's my favourite, closely followed by the Live at the bottom line version from 1977

Nope. The LATW one was from Germany somewhere (allegedly ) I too really like the Beacon Theater one. As for officially released then probably Meat Loaf Live, although it's a shame the end has been trimmed.

allrevvedup
01 Apr 2010, 15:59
I wouldn't believe the booklet for LATW especially since meat has since said that For crying out loud was a soundcheck, it sounds very similar to the Beacon theatre performance

Evil One

I'll have to compare them at some point.

wolfy35
02 Apr 2010, 00:03
IMHO It has to be MSO with LATW a very close second

Bat is such a dramatic song and the orchestral backing gives it that extra something that takes my breath away every time I hear it

There was also a clip of BOOH on youtube from Youngstown at the end of Casa De Carne.

A lot of it was cut out. But I was blown away by it. Having not heard the entire song, I dont want to comment but it will be on my super deluxe edition of HCTB so I shall repost at that time!

The Doode is not referring to the Nassau Coliseum version. Because THIS is the Nassau Colliseum version, and is COMPLETELY different:

There was a compilation album called Bad Attitude released in 1993 that had songs from BA and BBIS on it along with Paradise, 2OO3 and Bat from the Meat Loaf Live CD. The song you talk about is definitely from Nassau '78. This appeared on the BOOH anniversary rerelease.

The version that I have, from Bad Attitude (as a live track on the 93 release) sounds completely unlike the track linked above from the Nassau 78 show.

Evil One
02 Apr 2010, 19:40
 It's the same song! It was performed at The Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York, September 1, 1978. The difference between your one and the one Warioloaf uploaded is that one is a bootleg taken from a radio broadcast and has had the beginning lopped off to fit on Youtube.

I don't. I don't think it's one of his better shows. He sounds much better on the CD than the DVD, but then that's because half the songs were taken from a different show!

Been thinking about this. My Fathers Place is the new Best Bat.

WTF was I thinking??? :wtf:

Been listening over a few bat tracks i haven't listened to in ages.

The Hudson Theater one is the most overlooked Bats ever. And is FAR FAR FAR superior to the one of LATW. He has great note inflections that are absent from the LATW version.

My current favs in order are:

Hudson Theater 1993
Bad Attitude Live
Beacon Theater
MSO
Live Rehearsal 1993
Wembley 1987 (Alternate Take)

Nay lad. Meat's voice falters several times on the Hudson Theater one, which is presumably why they didn't use it on Live Around The World. Someone must know someone who works in the BBC archives and is open to bribery. They'll have the master copy of the 'other night's' performance from Wembley '87. Now that's the best performance out there in my opinion. They'd also be able to get their hands on the master copies of Meat's Comic Relief '99 special (best Paradise) and the Hammersmith Odeon '78 show (best Took The Words.)

My favourite is definitely the MSO one. At the time the tour was called The Last World Tour, and Meat seemed to perform that concert as if it was his last ever show. He really pulled out all the stops and it sounded more emotional than ever. Plus the orchestra really added something special.

great version in my opinion (far better then meat's live versions from 2005 to 2008 ), but i dont think it holds a candle to the live versions I listed or the original studio cut.
