View Full Version : CHSIB On The Shelves In America!!
I was at my local Borders, and saw it with my own two eyes. They had two copies of the album and one copy of the single for CHSIB on the shelves. They were marked with the IMPORT stamp on them. I know the manager and asked him what was up with that. He said that CHSIB is selling far too well on Amazon.com for them to sit and wait on it to be released in America. This could be good and bad for sales here in the US.

Wow....I think this is very odd. Borders doesn't seem like a big import source, though maybe I'm wrong in that impression- there isn't one near me. Now I just went to the Amazon website and that doesn't seem to back up their statement that it's selling so well on Amazon that they can't pass it up as an import. On Amazon (US) the full CD import is ranked 116,217th- not exactly a headturning ranking. By contrast, Welcome to the Neighborhood is ranked at 12, 939- over 100,000 items higher. Either way I guess any sale is a good sale so far as CHSIB is concerned, but it does seem a little odd.

But, you have to remember that part of that is geographical. Meat Loaf is a very big seller in my part of America. I mean, Cleveland is right here, and that is where it all got started here in The States. Also, we have just re-started our Rocky Horror Picture Show here in the area, and there is a lot of attention on that right now. I don't think it is odd at all, but I am irritated by the situation. I worry that unless there is something "different' that most will have already purchased the album online or via IMPORT.

True, I hadn't thought about your location. I was just looking at some of the RHPS cast links off of MOTS this morning and feeling all nostalgic; we lost our cast (and all showings of RHPS!) over 10 years ago in Central Florida. I am spending July in Northern Indiana, I may make the trip to see the Merriville, IN cast. I was a bit unsure about buying CHSIB as an import, I sort of thought I should save my purchase for the American sales numbers. Since I absolutely couldn't wait until August I ordered an import and promised myself that I would also buy several copies of the American release as gifts for friends. Sherrie!!!
Let me know when/if you will be there. It would be worth a trip up that way to catch the best midnight movie around with a fellow Meat Loaf fan!!!
Did you know there is a new cast in Orlando? They play at Universal's City Walk. I hear they are very good.

A few people from that cast post to the Rocky Horror NG sometimes. The site is really nice.
There are a couple of other newer shows in Florida. Here is a link to the Florida page of the Rocky Horror Interactive Theater Site:

Hope that might help in your need for absolute pleasure!!!

David,
Thanks, I had no idea there was a new cast in Orlando- that is less than 90 minutes from my home so it would certainly be worth the drive. Actually, after looking at the link you supplied of Florida casts there is one less than 30 minutes from me, in St Pete Beach. Woo! I'll let you know if I make the trip to Merriville- I'll be spending 30 days in among the cows and corn of northern Indiana and may really need the break!

I know what you mean David. Meat replied to one of my threads about the NZ release, and he said it wasn't meant to have been released here yet. I am worried this will ruin Meat's chance to get it up on the charts here.
However, I don't think the album being available for purchase on the internet alone (which is virtually the situation for those in the US and other countries where it has not been released) would hurt sales that much. Usually, internet sites require that you click on his name or type it in to find the albums currently on offer (which usually requires you to have the knowledge about it or the intention to buy), while an album in a physical store is on display and is often seen by unintending people and people unaware of it. Although people like we on the MLUKFC forum know about it and have purchased it in advance, I believe the majority of purchasers will be casual fans who do not participate in the online Meaty community and who won't know about it unless it is marketed (which I include display in a physical store but not on the internet).
