Hi, friends!

Here's an interesting link for you to check out today (May 1st):

http://www.AdAge.com

If you go down about halfway on the front page, you'll come upon the headline:

GM OFFERS PARADISE BY THE DASHBOARD LIGHT
April 30, 2003

The article goes on to explain that the song Paradise is going to be the background music for a new car campaign from GM. Starting May 1st, they are going to let people take cars home overnight as part of a test drive. "Let me sleep on it..." 8)

There's more to the article, which you can read there.

But what a great (and funny) tie-in with the song! Can't wait to see the commercials.

Hey, Meatloafisgod, can the Nike ads with "Just Do It!" be far behind???!!!! :P

And while we're on the subject, if you'd like to take on this challenge, what other ML songs might make good commercials for products?? Any ideas??

Love to all,
MB

I just saw the ad for the first time tonight during Survivor! It's definately the original recording, not some lame remake without ML. A nice catchy commercial and mo' money for Meat- you can't beat that!

Hi, guys! Thanks.

Greavzyboy! Great one for Kleenex!!

How about an ad for lawyers from the American Bar Association: I'd Lie For You and That's the Truth!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Was it TOO obvious???

Hey, Sherrie! Thanks for heads-up. I've been watching for the TV ad, but no luck so far. It's still early in California, though. Have to watch Survivor tonight to see it.

I've been thinking about this all day. It's good timing for Meat--right before the tour over here starts...the new album coming--sometime this summer....This is good!!!

Love to all,

MB,

Did you get to see the commercial during Survivor? I wonder if they run the same commercials nationwide....either way, it is officially my new favorite commercial.

Hi, Sherrie! I caught the commercial during Without a Trace. It was only the 30 second version, though. Was the Survivor ad the 60 second one?? I've still gotta see that one.

Loved what I did see, though! Great to hear Meat and Ellen! And it really is perfect for the new GM campaign! Whoever thought of it is brilliant.

As for other ML tie-ins, how about Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth for Dragon Dictate software? :P

Too obvious??? I'll keep thinking....

Love to all,

Hi MB,

When I saw the ad I hadn't get read the Ad Age article, so I didn't know that there were 2 lengths to the commercial. I do remember thinking that it was longer than most commercials, so I must have seen the 60 second one. (Or maybe I was just enjoying it so much it seemed longer- who knows?)

i know this might sound a bit bad but on the subject for ML songs for ads how about did i say that for a strepils advert (sorry about the splling). Like i said it is bad but its the only thing i can think of at the moment due to the fct i am shattered..lol!

I saw it again yesterday afternoon, this time on Animal Planet. Considering it is an epic of teenage lust, I found it a little odd to see it on the "Emergency Veterinarians" program my son was watching- but I guess many people don't associate it with the whole song, they just think it's a well sung, catchy tune about taking a car home for an extended test drive! I wonder how long it will be before my son is singing it around the house- now THAT would be cool!

Ba(r)t out of Hell
