Im off to the Cardiff show, (15 Nov), my first ever concert i cant wait, i hope a meet and greet is arranged, maybe it cna be done through here, like with the Amsterdam show.
I'm with Tim here.
Next time please use the search function to find information about a particular topic.
Regarding Meet & Greets, all I can say is that Meat told me that there will be more M&G in the future.
I simply cannot say how this is going to be organised - it's just too far in the future.
This thread will remain open.
Next time do this: http://www.mlukfc.com/forums/templates/STDsubSilver/images/icon_mini_search.gif, otherwise http://www.mlukfc.com/forums/templates/STDsubSilver/images/topic_lock.gif

I'm assuming that the UK fanclub will arrange the backstage passes Meat promised for those in the UK who answered his call on the release date of the ill-fated single. One was arranged here in the forum for Dutch fans.
I also assume that fan club membership is not an issue for those people, as this was a promise made by Meat rather than the fanclub, and Meat has a reputation for honouring his promises, so you should not lose out Sin and Heat. I'm not sure who could argue that they had done more than the two of you to help.

i didnt know how to go about doin all that!! i was thick, i think i missed my opportunity!!
You weren't thick .. just not there at the time perhaps. But anyway the UK club has a pretty good track rcord of arranging normal M&Gs for concerts at indoor venues. Just don't expect announcements this far ahead of the UK tour. I as just trying to reassure Sin and Heat, who put masses of personal effort into promoting the single.

How very right you are, Caryl! Heat and Sin promoted non-stop, so this will all work out fine, I am sure!
Now, one small comment on the Dutch M&G, not so sure many Dutch people there had actually been involved in any of this...But, it was a nice way of 'saying hello' to Fire Ball!
Great day to you,
Mariella
Now, I keep thinking about the US people, who were involved in this very activly also. Is anything being arrangend for them? :??:
Don't know Mariella, but I have written to 10th Street Meat's management company. There's no urgency for us, but for the US fans here who did their bit the pressure is on in terms of time.
No announcements have been made re M&Gs in general in the US, and no-one has got back to me in response to my query to the OIFC a few days ago apart from a holding reply. The numbers of US fans who responded to the call is relatively small and scattered around several different locations, but I have suggested what I believe is a workable solution :)
If I get any news I will of course let those concerned know and post the info.

Had no idea you were already 'taking care' of this.
Thank you for spending your time, helping these people out!
Love,
Mariella
Well .. no idea if I'm "taking care of it" .. no ide what success I might have .. but it won't fail for want of trying :)
Thanks, Caryl, for that reassurance, but i'd have to argue that there has been a lot of others who also worked thier butts off to promote Meat over here - you included :D
I don't want this turning into a 'who did what' kinda thread, so can we leave it at theat please :) ?

Folks, this is all speculation so far and all I can recommend is that you wait for some statement from Anne and/or Diane.
Meet & Greets have been arranged by the mlukfc in the past and I'm sure it will be the same this time.
However, imho it's too early to talk about this now. What I can tell you is this (http://www.mlukfc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10559#post10559).

R. I'm not quite sure what you mean by speculation.
Initially I responded to this thread with dissappointment in what I have discovered this week with my membership of OIFC and M&G's.
The thread seems to have continued with reference to FireBalls plea and promise made in these public forums. This instigated a lot of response and activity from many people, who granted would have done the same if he had just asked for help with no proviso. However a promise was made by him and i would think that far from being speculation it would be an expection in relation to that particular topic.
Thanks, Caryl, for that reassurance, but i'd have to argue that there has been a lot of others who also worked thier butts off to promote Meat over here - you included :D

Nor me Heat. I was just responding to Mariella who asked about people in the US, plus saying that Meat's offer did not mention membership of any club.
We in the UK can afford to sit and wait because the tour doesn't arrive here until November. Those in the US start in 10 days! If it's all in hand it doesn't matter, but my approach will do no harm. But I just had a feeling that they might fall through the cracks, because there's no vidence yet of there being any general M&Gs in the US, and I know there were some people who did answer the call from across the pond :)

R. is right. It is too early for us to have any news yet on Meet and Greets for the European leg of the tour. So far we have no information on whether there will be a Meet & Greet at the Plymouth Pavilions concert on the 5th July. I can assure you approaches have been made and it will be posted here just as soon as we hear anything.
In the meantime I'm afraid everyone is going to have to be patient a little while longer!

Since posting this I have been emailing OIFC, regarding the statements that had been made to me and have just received confirmation that I can "share" the following reply:-
"That statement is totally incorrect. Over the decade that I have
been Meat's OIFC manager we have arranged many meet and greets for
our members that live in the UK for Meat's UK tours. Whoever is spreading that rumor is not a kind person. We have always tried our best to service our UK fans......a full 25% of our fans are from the UK. In the past, management has been great about allowing m&g's whenever possible. I know that they're trying their hardest for us this time around also, but Meat's performance schedule is an arduous one for this tour and he may not be able to do them.
Best wishes,
Gerri"

I did the buying loads of singles things, I bought 25 from Reedes in Blackburn and they looked at me really funny. I never actually believed that I would or will get anything for doing it, was happy just to help out.
So I decided to give friends the extra singles I had and when they listened, they went out an bought the album. So I'm quite proud of myself for that. :D

haha, me too, but I don't know anyone there and they wouldn't believe me anyway i dont think... and keep whatever they get for themselves...
I think when Meat asked in w/c 14 April for those of us who could find copies of the single to go out and buy 5 that week to help overcome the problems of distribution, and promised back stage passes it was a promise from an honourable man, but wasn't offered on a pro rata basis :)
And not sure what you mean by "and keep whatever they get for themselves..." :??:

It was supposed to be funny, no offence was intended.
And I do remember reading the above, thats why I thought I would buy lots from the shop and give them to people so they would go and buy the album. It worked :)
icwuke wrote:

That's OK, none taken. I was just puzzled :)
I did much the same with ones I bought (plus a few to radio stations). Most I gave to people who wouldn't normally buy a Meat CD .. and they've gone out and bought the album as a result :) I even "tipped" the gardener and the guys who installed my washing machine with a single each :lmao: The installation chaps were like many people I meet who aren't the kind of fans who know when an album is coming out, or that a tour is coming up, but who always say when I mention Meat's name that they have his albums and think he's great. They left saying they'd get tickets for Sheffield arena.
I've also bought quite a few front row tickets on eBay recently. Two lots were in the side blocks, and I then managed to get centre block for the same shows, so put the others back on eBay to get my money back. Each of the winners when asked said they hadn't got the album yet .. so I tucked in copies of the single as a taster, and I hope an incentive :)
Still have a pile of them, but it's fun identifying people I think can be persuaded to buy the album if they just get a taste of it from the single :)

I so enjoyed my self during this time hunting the shops for available singles, phoning the radio stations asking for it to be in playlists, HMV and Woolies head offices must have been fed up with me but there were helpful.
I was really hoping to help in the US, even organised an international phone card but we seem to have lost the link for a while

I have only one question, how exactly will it be organised and how will we know when you check for this sort of thing?

Unfortunately the OIFC was unable to offer M&Gs for the first leg of the U.S. tour ... but hopefully some can be arranged when he comes back to the U.S. again next year.
And as far as your other comments ... I have no idea who would have told you such a thing, but do NOT believe everything you hear !!
