Bit of a crazy idea-Need YOUR HELP.

Ok Please bare with me on this,

Its Sunday and im bored,
been swimming, still bored,

looked on ebay say a great Meat Loaf Gold disk display set thought hummmm nice but cant afford it (£200) So it got me thinking, Make my own, ,

All I need is a LP (non Meat Loaf of course), Frame with Gold Edge,

A Black backing

and a couple of piccys ( I have signed ones),

but I dont have any gold lp's so my question is this, Has anyone ever sprayed a LP gold (If so what type did you use?)? crazy huh ? but it wont be played and its just for display, this is the sort of thing I want to do (Not the Corrs though)

Sorry just to add that the reason for the question is that a seller on ebay said his are sprayed, So I am assuming there must be a way to do a decent DIY job for my living room, I am NOT looking to sell these or make any money from them at all.

I've always found that when spraying onto plastic, that using car spray paint works well. Although I have never tried spraying vinyl! An undercoat would be needed as you are spraying onto black and several fine, thin layers is far better than one thick covering!
Halfords is a good source of paint of course or your nearest car accessory shop.
Please do this 'work' either out doors or in a well ventilated area as fumes can be intense! (Sorry - it's the teacher talking again)!!

Thanks for the advice, I have sprayed many a plastic remote controled car body but the paint they use are interal ones, My point is I know about the thin layers and doing it outside but your warnings are appreciated and a must for someone who hasnt done it before, your the second person to suggest car paint to me too so it looks like a trip to Halfords in the morning, Thanks again for all your help.

I would say try enemal spray paint for your gold paint. Only thing is if it is sprayied to heavy it will be all sticky so I would try ghosting it on a few cheap lp's before anything to see the out come. BTW ghosting is kinda like a fine mist but you can layer it, I use this effect when I am to lazy to get out the air brush to do a fine mist. Car paint should work fine. I have had paint when done sparyied it with a clear coat and have it peel or crack. So use paint from the same company and make sure it is shock up real good.
