That wouldve been massive.
If you're gonna do this surely you should reunite 'Only When I Feel' and 'Break It'?

Well, seeing as I have inadvertently created a sub-thread ... I Only included actual Loaf/Steinman recordings made up to the actual 'Bat 3' , so :

Seize The Night/ A Kiss Is A Terrible Thing To Waste/ A Teenager In Love/ Blind As A Bat/ Cry To Heaven/ Original Sin / Left In The Dark / Home By Now-No Matter What

Mine was purely Meat-Steinman (as a Bat album should be!!) bar 2 songs from Very Best which were co-written by Don Black and Lloyd-Webber, but still Steinman produced and co-written. GHLTB was an instrumental medley from Tanz I found and Teenager in Love is a Jim monologue.

I think Blind As A Bat deserves a special pass as the track most would assume was Steinman if they didn't know (plus has direct 'Bat' reference, of course!) ,,, I've not heard that instrumental you mention, Danny L, so will hunt it down now ....

I found it years ago, no idea what the track is called or where it came from, so sorry! I called it God Has Left The Building

Someone help me come up with a different flow for BAT 3? I know there's a better album in there somewhere. Using the tracks just from BAT 3. Drop Monstro and Alive? If God Could Talk? Let me know.

If i'm right it was also knocking around as one of the DOTV demos. I'm not sure if it ever really had a title - I think the DOTV one was extended a bit. Took bits from The Dream Engine, The Storm and a couple of other places.

If it's the one I'm thinking of.

If I was personally reworking the album using and losing just Bat 3 songs it would probably be something like...

Bad For Good
It's all Coming Back To Me Now
Blind As A Bat
What About Love?
In The Land of The Pig
The Monster's Loose
The Future Just Ain't What It Used To Be
Seize The Night
Cry To Heaven

It has many admirable qualities, but I think its lack of 'flow' (whichever way you jig it) is one of its major flaws.

break it the way it is would flow better in that track order.

Thanks! Now I'm thinking something like...

Bad For Good
It's All Coming Back
Blind As A Bat (BBC 6 minute version which I heard the other night for the first time and thought it was even better than the album!)
In The Land Of The Pig
What About Love?
Break It
Seize The Night
The Future Ain't What It Used To Be
Cry To Heaven

More rather than just less. thats pointless. while im not a fan of most of the songs you took off its better than a short 50 minute album

A short 50 minute album such as...say...Bat?

For me, less would definitely be more in this instance.

Only 50 mins cause of LP limitations

That could be said of any album made in the 70s and most of the 80s.

One of the problems with Bat 3 for me was it was like they felt the need to use every scrap of time with filler. That's probably why if anyone releases an album cram packed to the hilt, there's usually one or two that you can easily live without. There are a lot of excellent albums out there that run for less than an hour, and they tend to have less "meh" tracks to me.

Bat 3 with the tracks I've listed runs at 63minutes which I feel would have been enough.

Slightly more recent example of a shorter album...Braver without bonus tracks runs under an hour.

I've already done this, as I did previously with the two parts of "Blue Sky" to make one complete song, which I posted here. This time, I used the live versions as a template and combined the studio tracks for "Only When I Feel" and "Break It" to match them (and very well I think). I'm just afraid to make a YouTube video out of it like I did with "Blue Sky" since Meat seems to be policing YouTube extensively lately. If there is interest in hearing my custom edit, I will try to post it.

Your Blue sky edit was off, since they are both in two different keys. Mixing it is an impossibility without it sounding cringe.

I wouldn't say it's impossible, the lull in the middle gives it time to work. Otherwise every song that ever had a key change would "sound cringe".

Yeah but with no key change lik in the middle I don't think it can ever be done without it sounding bad

Your effort is to be commended, mind you

Exactly why I framed it that way, the storm in the middle works both in apposite to the song title and to prevent an abrupt key change.
