I wouldn't be so sure. The Tesco version and the demo are clearly the same vocal and when you listen without the full production there are a lot of parts that sound very much like his Braver voice but only a few that sound like his HCTB voice.

The best part is when it burns in my face.

See? I have no care.

Just like how "Dirty Water" was "obviously" the demo for "40 Days".

The iTunes AFL is better than the Target version IMO. The piano only approach is nice and the prior to the second verse they work in the current tour AFL intro to mix it up a bit.

Still 90's Meat and Imelda May but I like it better than the orchestra

What's peoples honest assessment of the Tesco bonus tracks? Is it worth the pilgrimmage to Tesco to get hold of them ??

If you already have the regular album it's a waste of money. If you don't have the album, it's probably just a few bucks more.

I didn't like the production of any of the songs and I didn't find them useful. The cover was... well almost like the Psycho remake. The same but not as good. AFL is a version that I don't feel the need to listen again. Didn't like the female vocals better than the original, so there was nio use except for the Imelda May fans and PFL, well, perhaps the only song that might be worth it.

Well that is my honest opinion anyway

Worth it for Prize Fight Lover alone :)

Yes it is.
  • Prize Fight Lover is better musically, but poorer vocally than the Hang Cool version.
  • For What It's Worth is much better vocally, and sounds like it should have been on Handbasket.
  • Anything For Love is just tremendous. If one were to claim it's the best song on the album then I wouldn't argue otherwise too strongly. I wish the MSO CD/DVD were mixed in the same way. In fact I wish that Paul Crook would be able to remix all of Meat's past work and make it sound similar to this album as he is a production God. I'd just like him to stay away from the ~~~~ing sound effects.
There isn't the same care and attention afforded to the bonus tracks as the rest of the album however. Prize Fight Lover is quieter than everything else, and all three songs could do with more silence adding to the end of them. Prize Fight Lover comes in too quickly after For What It's Worth, and the CD ends immediately after Anything For Love, which is annoying when using the multichanger in my car.

What about the Amazon DVD? Is there anything on it worth buying it for, or is it just a load of talking heads and footage of Meat in the studio?

Honestly, no. The Hang Cool version is better, but the other two songs are worth your money.

For me...

The bonus tracks are worth it. I like both PFL versions...and I like both vocals. This one is more raw and phrased differently. The additional guitar is great.

I love the version of Anything for Love (and have been playing around with my perfect mix from it along with the itunes version and the original seeing as the vocal is from around the same time on all of them. I like what Imelda brings to the coda as much as Lorraine did on the original. It's a different edge to it.

For What It's Worth...I like the song, so i like this version. It's a hard song to change so I expected a straight up cover which is what i got.

The DVD is a nice have, but nothing exceptional. It's about 20 minutes long and is from the same recordings as the promo video on Meat's facebook.

That's odd I could have sworn Amazon said it was 45 mins!

Do you have the album glockenspiel? Because then those are your 2 options

If you don't have it, go buy the album and buy the one with the 3 bonus songs.

Check your PM for some of the options

I have the regular-version album ... Too easy a 'grab' at my local HMV on the day of release, I guess ... If no-one going to stick it up online, will just have take your word for it about the 3 extras being no great loss ,,,,

It might just be me, but the subtlety of a PM probably didn't need a public thanks.
