Default Bat Out Of Hell 40th Anniversary Edition

Any news on this or was the campaign to pull the re-release so successful that it's been binned completely?

No information about it anywhere. Seems like it isn't happening.

Not a lot of CD's get sold now, and most everyone that likes BOOH has a copy or maybe a dozen. Only bonus tracks might be of interest to a relative niche' audience. My guess is they won't invest the money.

True,

Though, Last at Bat 2nd act, soundboard would have been a treat.

maybe the marketing department should create a special 40th anniversary limited edition downloadable sticker, which could be purchased for a small fee. then the collectors could pay their money, and convert their existing bat albums into new special bat 40 releases...

the record co probably already had the sticker designed, they just need to release it

I guess BOOH Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra filled that quota? (I love that CD, my favourite live release of Meat's)

Really wanted a re release but doesn't look like it's going to happen and the thought of no more meat releases is not good

The musical is the special commemorative event - and the cast album is wonderful!

Real shame but it is what it is.

Happy belated birthday, Bat.

That's because the situation was very different.

This article (and one of the other ones) is kind of misleading on the subject of Clive Davis' reception of Springsteen vs. Meat. Bruce was actually signed as a solo artist, as a singer-songwriter in the vein of Bob Dylan. His first two records (and the songs he played at his audition) weren't anything like Born to Run; in fact, he was in danger of being dropped by the label if BTR hadn't been a hit. The author almost makes it sound as if BTR was Bruce's first album. It's not a valid comparison, IMO.

Spot on, Julie. Makes me wish you'd written the article.
