Maybe it was cheaper to buy the single edits than the album versions?

It's #28 this week in the official UK charts. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/albums.shtml

Well that's a surprise, I'd have thought it might have broke the top 100 but #28 is impressive

Sony have given this a good TV push for fathers day and looks to have paid off. It's it's 110th week on the chart since its release and sales this week of 6,521 taking the total sales of this title to 349,882. :)

Sony's other current Meat title 'Piece Of The Action' sold another 1,183 this week retaining it's place as Meat's biggest selling title of the year. It's sold 10,919 since it's release a few weeks back.

So if Sony can have success by recycling the same tat, then why do they not realise they could have more success by putting out something different?

for exactly that reason...they have success with it. why bother with something different if there's always the risk of failing, when you can make money in a way a lot easier?

That's one way of looking at it. Alternatively if instead of rehashing HOOH they had released one of the old concerts they must have lying in their vaults as 'Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell Live' and marketed it for father's day then not only would they get the current sales figures, but many other Meat fans would buy it too.

That's assuming anyone is interested in a live recording of a show so many years back, I doubt it. Unless of course it's a famous gig, like when Jonny Cash sang at Folsom Prison, or Elvis comeback shows etc etc etc

only slightly related... but i'm interested to know what happened to the 4 hours worth of live material meat had recorded and thought would be a possible 4cd live album release back in 95 ish... almost certainly became live around the world... but what was on the other 2 hours worth of material?????

If I had to guess then I would say the rest of the Hudson Theater and Beacon Theater shows and whatever else was recorded from Amsterdam, Germany and Virginia.

well, they did leave out anything after Bat 2, so all the songs performed from from WTTN would have probably been there, and other songs like Masculine and Everything Louder would have probably been put on as well.

If a live CD was released along with a DVD like the live from Rockpalast gig, then I can see that being a big seller.

I have a few DVDs from the Rockpalast series. They're usually pretty good.
