The release that mentioned Meat said either as a performer or presenter. I think it is most appropriate that he present Jim. Don't want to speculate but can't help but wonder if...

I want them drop a bombshell that they've secretly been planning another album together, then have Jim jump on the piano and the two of them perform What Part of My Body Hurts the Most for the luckiest audience in the world :yep:

I think seeing physical proof that Jim isn't dead will be enough WOW for me, though

Jim Steinman is Not Dead. He is in Limbo!!!!:-)

loaferman61 03 Jun 2012 14:51

He was said to be OK after he cancelled his appearance at Amherst. I do think the Dream Engine was the last time he was reportedly seen in public. I doubt he will play anything. I was hoping he might tell Meat he can have the music track of "Body" that Dream Engine supposedly recorded to add vocals to for the next album. If it exists Jim probably "executive produced" it. As it stands now it is going to waste gathering dust and Jim seems not to care if it gets released or not.

Fantastic! (hello again, its been a while since I posted here...)

So happy to see my favourite songwriter be recognised at last, and Meat being there to enjoy it.

It looks like they've been able to put the past behind them and are friends again.

I do hope before BOOH The Musical gets put on (hopefully not too long now!) they record at least an EP together to bring closure to BOOH: The Records properly. Heck, ANYTHING Meat & Jim would be brilliant!

I think Meat has said before he's not bothered about it.

I think the decisions are just made by a handful of arrogant self righteous people rather than people in the industry itself who would be better judges. I don't think it's a case of someone getting enough backing by people in the industry, it's just down to a handful of self important people like i said. Of course i could be talking complete bollocks lol.

I think it's made by people in the music business with performers they want to promote .. most of those making the politically motivated decisions have a stable of recording artists they represent and want to push. Imo it lacks credibility NOT having a performer who has made the contribution to Rock'n'Roll that Meat has, and he's been eligible for a good few years now. And yes, he has said he's not bothered .. though I hope were they to wake up and select him he'd accept

yeah meat prolly said what he said about the rnrhof to put on a strong face. he may have been serious but i doubt he wouldnt show if he was selected. hes a man of deep pride and i bet u if he was selected itd be a very happy experience.

Michael Jackson, for instance, may have been the "king of pop" but he wasn't anything I would ever call rock n roll.

I'd still like to see him nominated, and see him accept and be inducted, but i'm not as baffled and outraged at his absence as I was before

its still very rpetigious to be inducted in the general publics eyes.

I have to disagree on this point. Some of his songs were real rock n roll, beat it, dirty diana to name but a few. True he did other more easy listening stuff but he did a lot of rock n roll records. Just listen to the heavy guitars in some of the songs!

I wouldn't want to use the word horrible, but it looks like he's been through a lot in the past 7 years. I don't wanna say who he was reminding me of.

They are the same age and ML has had noted weight problems and a notorious lifestyle, yet he looks far less worse for wear.

This! Thank you :D Two things:

1) What is the comment that Meat Loaf makes about It's All Coming Back To Me Now? I can't make the last bit of it out. He lists a heap of Jim's songs, and then goes "And that Celine Dion song which I ___." What's the blank?

2) The fact that he quoted It Just Won't Quit both surprised me and made my night, for whatever reason. I didn't expect him to come out with something so obscure

Jim's speech had me giggling the whole time. Thank you for all the erections you gave my heart

Can we agree for once that this was a very special night with two well-crafted speeches doing the legend and the ceremony justice?!!

thank you both so very very much. what a privelage to see and experience footage of mr loaf and mr steinman reunited for such an amazing and long overdue accolade.

I'm delighted Jim was there to receive his honour, and more delighted meat had the job of introducing him :)

for any fan of the legendary partnership of meat and jim, it's quite simply superb.

if i may ask, what was the experience like? what was the steinman medley performance like?

a once in a life time opportunity, and thank you both again for capturing and sharing it with us.

Fabulous!!

1) What is the comment that Meat Loaf makes about It's All Coming Back To Me Now? I can't make the last bit of it out. He lists a heap of Jim's songs, and then goes "And that Celine Dion song which I ___." What's the blank?

He says, "Which I need more Fish Oil." It was a continuation of a joke about the microphone (his instructions were to leave it at the piano)....he couldn't remember the title of IACBTMN. And as Meat has those comical inconvenient "moments"...he seems to think adding more fish oil is the key. ;)

Don't you just love the internet? I know there's a lot of bad stuff that circulates on it, but it is just SO great when we get to see things like this, which would never be possible without it. Thanks R.

Performance

Instead of expressing comments about Jim's physical state and neck that looks like the one of my french bulldog, does anyone have a link to Meat's performance of Bat?? :D

Yes Please!

Thanks for posting the awesome videos and pics. Congrats to Jim! Meat looks sharp and Patti is gorgeous. My dream team collaboration is for Jim to write a new duet for Meat and Patti.

What an amazing night it seems. Too bad there are no performance videos up :( Would have LOVED to see that

Tri.somethin 19 Jun 2012 05:29

Favorite Meat moment:

him breaking down as he said "I can never repay him"

Favorite Jim moment:

"I always fear my headstone will be heavily edited...like my songs tonight...for those of you watching Glee" LOL

I was gonna say that he was reminding me of The Emperor in 'Star Wars'. :O

Lighten up guys, Jim would have a sense of humour. I'm sure that he could have that fixed if he wanted, but he has character that I wouldn't have. ;)

And YES I would love to see the performances. They have to floating around the internet somewhere.

Yup. He knows that if it wasn't for Steinman, it's LIKELY (note that word) that he would not have made it. And not nearly as big.

They both helped each other in ways that cannot be measured.

Yes yes yes! Just watched the clips. Cheers R.
Let's hope the next time the boys appear together on stage is on Bat IV release day. I don't believe that dream is so far-fetched!

Or maybe the world premier of the Bat musical?

Yeah there's no way they could skip 3.....they'd have to start where they last left things

Let's not chaps.

The subject of wether Bat III should or should not have been called Bat III is an old one, and one that's never going to be resolved to everybody's satisfaction.

There's no sense in raking over old dead coals, especially on a thread celebrating the recognition and honour given to Jimmy in being inducted to the Hall Of Fame.

White of High 20 Jun 2012 01:15

That was a nice vid, Meat looks great, Jim looks so bad. If you ask me, no chance to Jim & Meat work together. After I saw Jim's leaving the stage I grabbed my head and shaked. He looks very old and... hell... sick. Anyway, it was nice to see Jim again but no chance to work together. Meat can record Steinman songs but not under Jim's hand...
