The B-Sides/Obscure Song Database

Hope this helps everyone :))

I have gone through the trouble of making this post so that users will cease the questions "What song is that from?" "I've never heard of that".

And this also answers the frequently asked question: "Where can I find it?"

If any video that is not mine gets deleted Ill replace it by sending a Pm to an admin with the new YT code

OK here I go:

You REALLY seem to have a LOT of time on your hands!! http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...arioSmiley.gif

Thanks none the less. ;-)

evil nickname 08 Sep 2010 13:19

The irony of "If you dont have a record player (most people don't), you'll never be able to listen to it." followed by a youtube video of the same song isn't lost on me. A few additions though:
  • Once Upon A Time / Hello are also available on the "Michigan Mixture Vol. 1" LP.
  • More Then you Deserve / Presence of the Lord did pop up on eBay every now and then when I was looking for a copy. There's at least one obscure 3CD set that includes both tracks, but those had some guitar/bass/drum parts added, so buyer beware.
  • Lost Love - the "If You Really Want To" maxi and picture discs aren't that rare. The Australian Hits out of Hell can be tricky.
  • Thrashin' - You can quite easily pick up a copy of the DVD (R1 only, though) which contains the song. A part is played over the opening sequence, and another part over the closing credits.

Also, if anyone is looking for catalognumbers for some of those releases: see my website.

I've never EVER heard of Hearts On Fire!!! I thougt I'd heard everything Meat has done! How on earth has that one slipped by me?!? I actually quite like it!

Steve6 08 Sep 2010 14:59

LOL @ Clap your hands. It's brilliant though...thanks Wario.

Evil One 08 Sep 2010 16:34

Hearts On Fire is better than most of Meat's 80's stuff. Crap, crap, crap your hands is a terrible song.

It is a "get up and dance" song that he sings very very well. It's done something for me anyway because I love it. Reminds me of something Elvis would sing.

Thanks Wario, i don't know how you find the time ! Do you actually sleep ? ;)

I prefer Pearls version of Whore.

Until the Youtube videos get taken down, then it won't be quite so good.

But even without the youtube vids I think it's a good sorce of information to new fans (or even older fans) who are not aware of all the rare songs or where to find them.

I can't see anyone getting their knickers in a twist over these videos on you tube. Maybe the Ted Nugent ones but certainly not the others.

You were replying to a duplicate thread that had been set up to add a few more songs to the list.

Magic worked

The updated post with more songs in (thread 2 post 1) has been copied and pasted into thread 1 post 1.

Then the threads were merged and T2P1 was deleted, leaving this nice tidy thread

I did ask Chris to put the songs in cronological order :bleh: but I can see there are still a couple out of order, so i'll get onto that.

If anyone else sees a song that should be on the list PM myself or any other staff member and we'll add the info

I have Let It Be, i love Meats version, never liked The Beatles singing it.

Steve6 08 Sep 2010 20:08

When you look through the list of videos that Wario posted above you could classify the ones from "Once upon a time" down to "Let it be" as rare..but the rest of the stuff isn't. You could make it sticky like Neil said. I'm sure a lot of fans never heard any of the stuff posted above

It already has been made sticky and it is noted by each video how rare it is, or not. It's supposed to be obscure songs and B-sides. Which it is.

Wouldn't been keen on the single edits..but the remixes sound good to me. If someone set up a thread of fan made versions of Meat songs that would be really interesting too. But only the best ones..so that excludes Wario ;)

More like a worldwide number two.

rockfenris2005 01 Dec 2013 13:14

If you live in Australia, the "Hits out of Hell" CD with "Lost love" has been on the shelves for 20 years. It's only now that the remastered version (which doesn't contain the track) has been released that it's not as common. But before that, it was as easy as finding "Bat out of Hell" and "Bat 2" (actually from my memory it was easier than Bat 2 at times). I'd have thought it would have been more common on eBay though?

CarylB 01 Dec 2013 16:18

Good Lord .. mind the cobwebs ;)

rockfenris2005 01 Dec 2013 16:22

For me, it was the other way around. I didn't think that "Lost love" being on the album was unusual. I now think it's unusual but that's because I found out that the other releases didn't have it. Weird. I wonder why they did that.

Breeze 01 Dec 2013 20:22

I just saw this thread and most of the video's are gone, then I saw the original date was 2010. :angst:

Lost Love should have been on the album. From what I've heard and read the album was a rush job by the record company to cash in on the last contract album.
For all the talent involved I personally can't believe how undone it seems when it was released. Lost Love is a taste of what it could have been.

Evil One 07 Dec 2013 12:52

Lost Love is better than everything else on MATLAF so I really don't understand why it was left off the album. The whole thing is only 35 minutes long, so it wasn't due to time constraints.

rockfenris2005 07 Dec 2013 12:59

I wonder if that was the only song that didn't make it. What do you think of "Take a number"? Should that have been included on BA? I would have put it as the ending.

I read somewhere a long time ago that Meat had written a song called Paradise Road. That was supposed to be on there as well as a song called I Still Hear the Guns.
In the article Meat said the record company took the album away as released it as it was before they were finished.

Mr. Happy 24 Mar 2015 06:51

I know this is a painfully stupid question (and probably not worth resurrecting a thread as ancient as this over), but I have to ask...what sort of quality are the studio recordings of Unsaid and Decadent Wish like? I've been hunting down decent quality versions of these two for years while also trying to avoid spending a fortune on getting them shipped from the other side of the world, but all the ones I can find online are rubbish and I'm at the point now where I can't stomach the staticy reverb anymore. The hi hats on Unsaid sound like tin foil. It's almost like each and every place you can get these from online got it from the same source, and that initial source was terrible. From what I've found, Decadent Wish is a little better than Unsaid, but it's still not fantastic.

The recordings on the CHSIB/DIST singles have to be much better, right? If I was to put them in a playlist with the other songs from the album, would I notice a difference in quality? I'm assuming they are a lot better (surely they wouldn't be officially released in bootleg quality), and that's why I think this is a stupid question, but I just find it confusing that they only seem to be available in terrible quality no matter where I look. That, and I want to be certain before I buy the listing of Unsaid that's been tempting me for the last week on eBay
