Best Live Version Of You Took The Words?

We've done Bat and AFL so why not?

My favourite arrangement is from the Dead Ringer tour as featured on the 1982 video. However it's not the best quality or performance.

In my opinion the best is on Meat Loaf Live. Meat in the late 80's kicked all different flavours of arse.

gotta say officially the 1987 wembley as well. Though it sucks his "we are recording you" rant is cut. I find it quite entertaining.

unofficially: university of wesconsin 1990/ Agora's ballroom 1977 tied.
the 1982 video's arrangement was good. but not the best for another obvious reason.

I'm not quite sure of the location of this one but it was somewhen during 1987:

This particular version seemed to stand out at me from the moment I first heard it. I can't pinpoint exactly why though.

that's from the Meltdown concert, London 87

I'd personally say the best was back when he still did the full song.

LATW version, i like it for the incredibly quiet bit when there's a mild clapping and meat lets a laugh out before the music comes back in.

I don't understand why that quiet bit wasn't edited out.

cause it kicks ass. scares the shit outta ya. I love it. Paradise shouldve been edited

Evil One 05 Apr 2010 18:12

But you have to listen to a minute's worth of almost silence, yet they edited out the slow part of Frying Pan. And yes, Paradise should have been trimmed.

Back to the topic at hand. I've always thought this song lost something when the 90's came around and it was done in a less rockier style. It lost even more during the late 90's when the second verse fell into a bottomless pit.

allrevvedup 05 Apr 2010 18:15

i'm glad it wasn't, though i do have memories of trying to copy the song onto my old mini disc player and during the quiet part it skipped over into a new track as it thought it had ended:D

worst rendition for me was the german shows of the Casa tour 08. Nothing more than a 2 minute teaser consisting of the chorus.

And even worse, he urged the audience to sing it in German. :lawl:

That one gets my vote as well. TBH I dont think there is a weak link on that CD they are all really good

I think it's a good CD, but it could have been better. I think that deserves a thread of it's own though.

yes their is. rrd.

as for the second verse = good ridence. Slowed the pase so much in the 90's. yet sings frying pan entirely

That would also be my choice I love that version.
