I can't get in the chatroom!!

Can anyone help? I can't get in the chatroom, keep getting this message:

A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flashplayer 8 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script.

Also, the blue band at the top of the window says:

Flashchat v4.5.3

....... or has Sir Chris done what he tried in the past and banned me from there!!!!

[Edit]
Read post #27 https://www.mlukfc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=203983 for a possible fix.

Ageing Bat 03 Apr 2006 22:32

Ageing Bat 03 Apr 2006 22:37

How fast is your computer and what operating system are you running?

Also, look here: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/kn...fm?id=tn_15512

I've been in the chatroom all afternoon, and still am, and Ageing Bat has been obviously trying to come in, but then disappears almost as soon as her ID is listed with the time. And I have FlashChat v4.5 at the top of my page, too.

Does this help?

MICROSOFT WINDOWS 2000

I also subscribe to AOL, but use internet explorer.

Does this help R?????

R. 04 Apr 2006 22:46

What happens if you click "No" three times?

Ageing Bat 04 Apr 2006 22:50

I tried that...... the whole system freezes to the point of having to do ctrl+alt+del to get it to do anything! Then explorer shuts down too!!

Do you have any other problems with flash stuff?
Does Google Video (http://video.google.com/) work for you?
Did you hear the "Bananphone" on Saturday?

Ageing Bat 04 Apr 2006 23:04

Didn't have my speakers on  I had been warned!! And I can't concentrate with music playing.... find myself singing along instead of surfin the net!!

Will try that. Thank R...... will report back tomorrow.

No problems with other flash stuff.

Yes, Google Video works just fine thanks!

Could you re-instate Bananaphone for a few days so I can test my system to see if it works please?

https://www.mlukfc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=202588

Macromedia and the Flashchat guys mention two possible issues, CPU speed and/or connection speed.
What is your internet connection bandwidth? Is your computer by any chance a notebook? If so, does this happen when it runs on battery?

Connection test results:

Speed
947.9 kilobits per second

Communications 947.9 kilobits per second
Storage 115.7 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 8.9 seconds
Subjective rating Good

No, my little beastie isn't a notebook.

R. 05 Apr 2006 20:26

That's by far fast enough.

Honestly, I don't know what the problem is. Is AOL running in the background when you try to connect? If so, try to close it and see if this helps. It might be worth a try to use a different browser, eg. FireFox or to reinstall the flashplayer from here: http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/...ShockwaveFlash

SuperLoafMan 05 Apr 2006 22:32

I am having the exact same trouble as Ageing Bat, The other day i was in and chatting just fine, came to log in the other day, Nothing  Just would not let me access, came up with the same script as Ageing Bat....

R. 05 Apr 2006 22:51

Just happened to me aswell  on my notebook (Thinkpad T43) while using battery (=slow cpu) and a second try on regular power (= fast cpu) worked without a problem. Just a guess, clear the browser cache, close browser and try again.

Ageing Bat 06 Apr 2006 08:59

What a relief! it's not only me

Will hopefully have some spare time this evening to have a fiddle with it.

SuperLoafMan 06 Apr 2006 22:53

I have tried this but the problem still keeps happening, :(

Is there anything else i could try??

R. 06 Apr 2006 23:05

Patience, I just downloaded an updated release.
Will install during the weekend, might solve the problems.

SuperLoafMan 06 Apr 2006 23:06

Thats Brilliant R.

Thank You.

I have seen you trying to enter. Are you using "The Bat"? If so, switch to a different style and try again.
